on at Gate way so i suggest u can visit this place after some tme...yes alephanta is so near to gate way of india...It is not exactly a place for picnic. But it is a must visit place in Mumbai.not for picnic but side scene ,for picnic you must go to elephanta caves for picnic....Yes. there are many places in Pune for picnic, like Empress botanical garden on prince of wales road, shantivan-a lake view picnic and sujata farms spot in erandwane, snake park in kothrud, splash water;...katraj...lonavala,khandala,mulshi dam,mahabaleshwar...well! i would suggest you for lonavala as its a real chill out place. others are bhimashankar ,panchgani and mahabaleshwar with beautiful hills and a soothing climate.Beautiful places
