Ma Durga is d symbol of primordial feminine energy which is creative and nutritive at d basic level. But as u kno, a mother does much more than that. So d Navdurgas represent all d other aspects of Ma Durga. D Navratri festival is observed over 9 days to invoke the energies of all d 9 aspects of Ma Durga. Every community has it's own systems for d festival. If u r looking for a puja vidhi, u will have to spk to a proper learned brahmin. Unfortunately there r too many of them who will just drag u into complicated and lengthy ritualism. Navratris occur twice a yr at the time of major seasonal changes - just b4 winter nd just b4 summer. The body has to adjust to major climatic changes, so fasting is recomended to give d entire system a break. Genuine fasting is only with fruits and juices. Eating just once a day. No cooked food at all. Sociologically dis festival is a celebration of womanhood. Giving respect to woman at all levels and caring for d girl child. Becoz at the end of d nine days, little girls r invited at home, their feet r washed as d utmost mark of respect, they r garlanded with flowers, red tika is applied on their forehead, do aarti for them, give dem halwa puri nd giftfs, and then bow down b4 them nd take their blessings. It is beautiful to respect womanhood. Any society that respects and cares for it's mothers, daughters, sisters and wives will b happy nd prosperous. But wouldnt it b great if we could respect them at all times instead of jus during Navratri?......... Diva
