Obviously, when you put something around skin you reduce sensitivity. Consider picking up something when wearing a glove, even if it's a vinyl or latex glove, it can reduce sensitivity.
What you need to do is make sure that you use two forms of birth control. Like foam, film, or contraceptive jelly and a diaphragm, in addition to using the Pill. Or just pick any two reasonably good contraceptive types and use both together. (I am presuming you want to exclude any male/female barrier so I'm not including female condoms either.)
It's estimated that, even when used effectively, contraceptives can have about a 3% failure rate. Using two of them simultaneously drops the failure rate to 0.0009%, or from 3 in 100 to 9 in 10,000.
