We find someone a role model, because we appreciate certain things in them which we would like to have in us. Our personality & mentality should be pleasing to ourselves. So some role models influence us in building our personality.

Role models help, but I feel that having a role model too is a sign of dependence and hence weakness and can be totally avoided if you are self motivated and remain focused at ypur goal.

Of course! Having a role model opens upward our minds to possibilities we otherwise thought were far out of our grasp. Without a character example, we may never defy to dream big. Many successes have been averted just because we didn't think we could be then productive. But if we had a role model, we wouldn't be rather reluctant to believe large. Ask nearly any successful individual will have a role model who inspired him to hit the heights he has reached.

its benefiting to have a role model in life...to get sound inpiration and ideas to move ahead positively in life...but one should always remember that no two people live the same life in this world...simply copying what your role model did in his/her life would be unfair to your own capabilities and personality...its better to have a group of people as role models for different issues and arenas in life...nobody is the best in every field...its quite often that people imbibe their role model's weaknesses as well along with their better traits...
