It's your unique quality to help others in crisis. But not so unique that you're expecting something in return. But let me assure it's a common human feeling. But one can change this attitude for the life upbringings. When you encounter people like this, treat them with tolerance and understanding. Many of the things they do which aggravate and irritate you may not be done with conscious intent. They just cannot help acting that way. If we had been through what they have been through, we might be worse--who knows? As per the famous saying "There is more happiness in giving than in receiving." In helping others, we shall help ourselves, for whatever good we give out completes the circle and comes back to us. It takes time. But do all the good you can, and make as little fuss about it as possible.
