Everything happens for a reason. I have heard this countless times from friends and family, even I tend to use it, but how true is it? Does everything happen for a reason? Don’t events happen that have no reason what so ever, they just happen. Some things happen that seem straight out of the extraordinary that don’t seem to have anything to do with anything. Maybe the idea of ‘reason’ is to small and general, maybe these reasons are to complex for some people to understand or see. I still believe the statement is true, I just find it difficult and frustrating when I can’t find the reason to why something bad has happened, I’m sure I’m not alone on this.
This has nothing to do with religion, I’m catholic but I believe this is a statement that is universally known and accepted throughout the world. Everybody wants reason of why things work the way they do which is great, we are a curious species that always wants to learn more about ourselves and the world around us. We might not agree on what the reason is behind certain events, but we can at least agree that there is reason.
So, how about randomness, is there any connection there to reason? Some of you might know or have heard the phrase, “Shit happens” and according to some research done it is the acknowledgment that bad things happen for no reason. But isn’t randomness still rooted in reason, it’s just reason that is too complex for the human mind to comprehend. We act the way we do because of a number of reasons, even if an act seems random it was based on something affecting us that caused us to act that way.
There are some people that I have met in my lifetime that have been truly wonderful and others that I would like to forget. Sure it’s easy to say that I met the ‘good’ ones for a reason, but it’s a little harder to justify the ‘bad’ ones. But that statement doesn’t try to explain that, it just states that there is reason behind everything, no matter the situation. You might not see it, but there is a reason. I wish I could explain the reasons behind bad events or people, I can’t though.
Is there a reason why I decided to post this today? Yes, of course there is. Most of my ideas or opinions on my space tend to grow from conversations with others or just things that I have had on my mind lately. Others seem to arise out of thin air, but I know there is a reason why I would write them down, I just can’t tell you what they are because I don’t even know what they are. I really believe in this statement, it is not only said to make people feel better when things get rough. I honestly believe everything does happen for a reason even if at the time people might be too upset to understand that. We don’t know what the future holds in store for us, but just remember that it all happens for a reason.
