Yes. we need to be criticised in a good way by well wishers. We can so find where we need to improve. But criticising to discourage someone should not be entertained.

Though critics might nor be able to write well all by themselves bur can well criticise. These people indirectly help people engaged in different fields. Both positive and negative criticism do help us to go for retrospection. with the help of them we - the writer, poet, sculpture, actor and actress get benefited or else would sit on their presumed ideas that theirs is the great. So you rightly asked if there is an importance of critics.

Yes they are, the realistic ones, that critics maked with sense of the responsability and not by envy , jalousy or other bad human habit.
Critics are the magic bitter mirrow, in which we need to look from time to time if we are cosciouys about our imperfections.

Yes indeed.
Many scholars have also emphasised the value of critics and cited them as the "real friends who won't let you feel like god" Critic might be the only person who can show you the real you. so whenever u feel like god remember a critic of yours
