This is true metaphorically. If taken in the plain literal way achievement is never a bondage. But if one achievement is not enough for you surely you would go for another and all the achievements reached so far play the role of bondage, as if in absence of them you would not go higher.

The protagonist of the play "Faustus" becomes the victim of this bondage as he was not happy even after becoming a great scholar and wanted to learn necromancy and bonded with his blood with Mephistopheles.

When we will do some achievement at that time we will be very happy and will think to do more and more thing and to achieve more things in life.So after we make some good achievement we will think to do some high achievement.But if we fail in doing small achievement than we will not able to achieve high achievement.
