Not everyone is as lucky or talented as Anil Kumble to be able to undertake both almost simultaneously. My advice would be to go in for software engineering - at least you could be safe from injuries and whims of the selectors. Also remember that not all make it big in cricket.

Go for cricket yaar, simple a cricket player can become a software engineer but a software engineer cant become a cricket player later. Very few people get opportunity for cricket. if you are good at cricket with coaching and nice practice, then go for cricket. Be a sportstar. All the best. God bless you.

you can take both of them at a time, as cricket doesn't seem to have a long life so its better to become a sofware engg. you can also become a cricketer for a short period of timeand also a software engg.
