praising someone is when you genuinely appreciate something good done by someone while flattery is unnecessary needless praises which are absolutely fake and undeserving. you can distinguish between teh two by judging teh intention with which teh other person saying them....well praise is something taht comes after a good deed of urs, where as those on flattery spree will b spiling sweet wrds left
