Distemper is also a variety of paint. It is a form of whitewash and suited for the exteriors. For interiors I suggest you either go oil based distemper or acrylic emulsion paints. Acrylic emulsion paints are washable.

it is all a matter of taste. some even paint different walls in different colors....not required all paints only selected one...Yes you can.But choose col wisely dependin upon the space,design,light,use,furniture,accessories and most imp the occupents.Avoid dark or gloomy col as col effect our moods.Asian paints has stencils.you can also do murals or paint the walls by drawings.

Wooden surface is normally not uniform. Hence roller would not be a good idea. I suggest you use a brush.
