No Indian Film has won but the Oscars was awarded to Bhani Athaiya for Best Costumes in the movie Gandhi in the year 1982 with John Mollo....Gandhi, an Indian and British co-production, contested in the mainstream category and won most of the top Oscars at the 1982 ceremony....No indian film won the Oscar award. Our indian movies are not nominated for OSCARS becouse one main reason is "indian films contains songs"...indian moovies are nominated alright but fail to make the cut. poor selection, bad promotionand politics are the real deterants...i think indian movies are good but the movies which we sent to oscars are often so stupid...i mean how can they send eklayava to oscars...such a bullshit movie

In my opinion, TZP is a movie that easily qualifies as the Oscar entry and could definitely win it if pitched right.
