This is certainly a philosophical question. Are we really in control of our own destiny, or are we meant to feel we are in control of our own destiny, but when, in fact, it is destiny leading us where we should be going? Self-pity means pity for oneself, esp. a self-indulgent attitude concerning ones own difficulties, hardships. Normally self-pity does not contradict to ones progress. However, if the intensity and some times it contradict with ones progress. Example if one has self pity but originally one has no real in depth knowledge then one day a damage occurs in life.
