well, well, Cat-5 cable, sometimes called Ethernet cable, is short for Category 5 cable, a current preferred industry standard for network and telephone wiring. Cat-5 cable is unshielded wire containing four pairs of 24-gauge twisted copper pairs, terminating in an RJ-45 jack. If a wire is certified as Cat-5 and not just a twisted pair wire, it will have "Cat-5" printed on the shielding

The 10/100BASET Ethernets only use four of the eight wires in a CAT5 cable. T Splitter Adapters also known as Modular Y adapters combine two RJ45 8-wire Ethernet jacks ports into one 8-wire jack it tick. I didnt see anything unusual inside, such as as extra twist that some CAT 5 jacks put in pairs inside the jack. In fact some of the pairs are untwisted more that the half an inch specified for CAT5

Mandeep in fact there are several of them, CAT5, CAT5e, CAT6, CAT7 - UTP, S/STP, FTP Hallogen Free Cables, Crossover Cables, Portable/Retractable Patch Cables.Up until the late 1980s thick or thin coaxial cable was typically used for 10-Mbps Ethernet networks, but around that time, UTP cabling became more commonly used because it was easier to install and less expensive. UTP CAT3 and CAT4 were used

computer, etc. is connected at the other end, one can expect to see smoke at the other end. I used CAT 5 cable for the telephone lines going to my shop/office, but the cables are terminated with 4-wire RJ-11 telephone jacks and are not shared with my network. One can put four, 2-wire telephones on one 8-wire CAT 5 cable; however the ring voltage may occasionally disrupt any dial-up MODEMS using the same cable

CAT 5 cable and CAT 5e cable have several differences, the most important are as follows: Network support - CAT 5 cable will support 10/100 Ethernet. That is, Ethernet and Fast Ethernet. CAT 5e cable will support Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, and Gigabit Ethernet. CAT 5e Cable is completely backwards compatible, and can be used in any application in which you would normally use CAT 5 cable. Less crosstalk

hello nidhi The wires in a network cable should not be untwisted more that 1/2" for CAT 5/5e cable and 1/4" for CAT 6 cable. Furthermore, separation of pairs of wires from the other pairs words, I dont think most people need to run CAT5 wiring for their telephone lines to get the best performance out of the modem.CAT-6 Category 6 has a minumum of 250 MHz of bandwidth. Allowing 10
