The way you pursue your academic career will largely depend on the subjects that you are studying now.

If you are studying Science, you need to choose whether you want to continue in reading a science honours, or get into applied streams like engineering, computer applications.

In case you are in Commerce, you can start with a graduation in Commerce, with a combination of one or many of CA, ICWA and CS. Once you are done, you can either pursue MCom or get into applied fields like MS-Finance or MBA (Finance).

For Arts students, you can complete a graduation in the top bracket of subjects like Economics, Comparative Literature, Political Science or Law. Once graduated, you can decide whether you want to pursue for masters or take up applied courses as journalism, mass communication, fashion design or something else.

However, for Science students too, the option of completing MBA is always there with the need for Operations Research, IT, Production Management and Marketing.

Since you are more into the computer science technology, you need to understand which industry you would be pursuing in case you attempt to join the software application industry. There are budding developments in J2EE area, the Microsoft technologies area and definitely the ERP area.

In case you require to concentrate on Windows-based applications, .Net is almost ready with its complete set of features. Mostly, Java will run across a variety of operating environments, yet the ease of installation to Windows will remain with VB. So, in case you feel Microsoft is your preference, go for .Net.

Most Java coders prefer to show the versatility of the language. So, if you are thinking of keeping your options open, and ready for the challenge, Java is a natural choice. Besides, you also get to know the flavour of running Java across a variety of cross-platform systems. But, to get the best of some of these you will have to invest your time and effort. If you are worth it, take the J2EE path.

ERP is the business trend, as more and more accounting and production business models are adopting packages like SAP. They need a specialized skill and require one to master the entire package with the application programming by ABAP. If you are thinking of serving key segments of the entire industry, you may choose the SAP path.

In a interview, ask a question? why you leave the current company? what give the suitable answer this question.

Asked by: PRAMOD KUMAR in Jobs & Careers at   1:50 PM on November 19, 2008

's Answer

The best and probably the most clean answer to this question will be 'for better prospects'. ideally, most of us are leaving our present job to look for better environment, salary and role. So, in case the question is asked, the reason can be looking for a better prospect.

Since at the time of interview, it will be too premature to discuss the entire range of issues in your present company that you are left with this option as the healthiest one.

i am thinking 2 go 4 niit-software engineering how i should i study and give my time towards it.

Asked by: khan kadir78 in Jobs & Careers at   1:56 PM on November 18, 2008

's Answer

NIIT courses are good ones, specially if you are looking to be part of the software industry. They also have their programming outfit called NIIT Techologies where they can place the better students. Basically, the training in NIIT happens around the day and evening time, and they will also have facilities to use machine-time. You need to have the verbal training and the machine-time to complete the work.

Back at home, you need to review and refresh the concepts that you learnt and try to use the same programming exercises provided in class to improve your understanding of the subjects.

my daughter is in ukg she gets confused in same type of spellings how i can help her reinding those

Asked by: Sonii in Exams, Education & References at   9:55 AM on November 18, 2008

's Answer

I feel this is natural during the developmental stage of the child. One can assume that at such a tender age, children are not supposed to juggle with spelling issues in English. You can try to introduce the play element. As we have seen, letter-names that are very crucial to child's spelling development. Many of the mistakes they make are based on the use of the letter-name rather than the sound link, for example 'ran' as the spelling of 'rain'.

You can exploit the are of letter-names and use alphabet blocks as play items to highlight this. As in many cases, it may be helpful for your child. All the best!
