surya grahan is when moon comes between the earth and sun and chandra grahanam is when earth comes between the sun and the moon.this is science.the phenominal chemical changes were known by our predecisors and so they asked us to avoid eating before during and after grahana.they even gave the dharba as the only thing which can take the ill effects of grahana.still we use to put dharbam in water,dagi and other eatables during grahanam

Hamari manyataon (Faith) ke aunsar, jab rahu surya ya chandrama ko gras leta hai tab grahan hota hai.ye he manyata rahu ko ek chhayaa grah manti hai. Vigyan ke anusar, jab prithvi aus surya ke beech chandrama aata hai ya surya aur chandrama ke beech prithvi aati hai to inki chhaya se grahan lagjaata hai. Chayaa ke prabhav aur grahan ka rishta to vigyaan aur manyata dono mein ho gayaa.
Aaj ke vigyaan ki samajh jahan tak hai, manyataaon mein chhipi baaten us sooch ke paar hain, kal ya parson shayad science Hindu sanskriti ki manyataain samajh paye gi. Akhir hare granthon mein hazaron varshon se jo grahon ki dooriyaan batai thee, aaj woh sahi siddh huee hai.

A lunar eclipse occurs during a full moon, when the earth is between the sun and the moon. A solar eclipse occurs during a new moon when the moon is between the sun and the earth. A full moon and a new moon are about 2 weeks apartOne should take a bath after an eclipse because it is believed that the earth is plunged into darkness during a lunar or solar eclipse. Darkness symbolizes impurity and therefore one has to sit in one place and chant the name of God. Once the eclipse is over, light returns back to the earth; and to rejoice, one has to cleanse the impurity that darkness brought, worship God and offer donations to express one’s happiness.
In the same way, we are all engulfed by an eclipse in the form of mãyã. So, just as one does for an eclipse, one should pray to God in order to overcome the force of mãyã.
