There is nothing like 100% sure, but you can try if the ladies periods are regular and is of 28-30 days cycle then you can have sex during first 10 days and last 10 with out any protection but again no one can give you gaurenty of not geting pregnant.

If you want to do non pregnancy sex then you must condoms they are much safer
And there is no conformation if sex is done during periods or before or after periods because every women are of different type no one nows when they can evaluate.

There is a method called Calender Period Method , chances of getting a women pregnant in this period is very much less so you can go for it !

But failure rates to this method are very high as there is no any barrier present and there is just the merley absence of ovas for the sperms to get fertilize.
Sperms do have longer life period of 72hrs so one could get pregnant even after 2nd or 3rd day if the sperm could satisfactorily fertilze itself with ovum.
