In most real life human relationships, more can be achieved through love and willingness of persons concerned than through coercion or dominance. While more patience is required to inculcate proper manners in children it is also important not to completely alienate them by harsh means like physical punishments. If one is successful in making the child understand the need for good behavior by constantly praising and reinforcing this behavior then it last for ever, however, if on the other hand, one forces the child through punishment then such behavior will be exhibited only when the concerned adult or parent is in front of them and once the child is on this own (or alone) then he will rebel and act the way he wants to. This will work out to be very embarrassing for the parents later on. Hence, it is necessary to strike a proper balance while dealing with training of children.
