i am assuming that you want to stop yahoo messenger from autostarting at windows login.

click START then RUN

type MSCONFIG and goto STARTUP tab. uncheck the "yahoo messenger" box.

***to store yahoo messenger button in quicklaunch bar***

right click on the taskbar>goto toolbars>make sure quicklaunch option is checked

drag and drop yahoo messenger icon into quicklaunch bar
