Gross salary means that you can get this amount as salary. But you if ask employeer to deduct this amount as a saving or other reason. after deducting said amount it will be treated as net salary.

if some body getting gross salary of 2 lak for annuam means, he may get 16000/- per month, after compulsory deductions they guy may get 13,000/- per month net amount.
