Prime Minister of India is the ex-officio chairperson of planning commission of India. The day-to-day work of the commission is looked after by its Deputy Chairperson, who is appointed by the President of India, on the advice of the Prime Minister. Montek Singh Ahluwalia is the current Deputy Chairperson on Planning Commission.
