This is a very tricky issue. Pakistan maintains that it has no Indian POWs of 1971 War but reports of such prisoners keep appearing. One thing is sure, many of the POWs have have died by now (nearly 40 years in prison).

According to Shimla Agreement, all POWs were exchanged and both countries stated that there are no more POWs with them.

thought the pows treated with utmost respect and ordered to be returned to their country, this incident has brought fame and name to our then PM Mrs.Indira Gandhi as the one lakh prisoners surrendered themselves by which war came to end.

We had about 90,000 thousand POWs in the 1971 war. We returned them all to Pakistan and they also freed a few hundred POWs with them as per the Simla Agreement.
