Education does what illiteracy doesn't. It opens up the questioning and reasoning faculties of the human brain. But the bigger question is, whether education does any good? the answer may not be at all positive, since the importance of education is greatly undermined by the common man. Many educated people who are busy in their respective lives are looking after their own, whereas the not so educated are still standing beside their brethren in times of crisis.
Though the uneducated ones can't devise a rocket launcher, but they know how to share, and definitely work towards a common goal of self-development for people around. Without any feeling of pride, let me add that education is good only when understood to the extent why it is needed for humans to excel.
A real need for education is to be a part of the human society and life, to be an eternal part of human excellence, and definitely to work unitedly to help humans improve their lot. This, in essence, is not very evident in today's educated minds. Hope I made some sense to you!
