Who do you feel will be the star performer in the Nagpur test and why ?

Asked by Mehul Shroff in Cricket & Other Sports at   9:46 PM on November 03, 2008

Shreshtha's Answer

Well Mehul, even though Nagpur is a long way to go, and commenting about the performance of some particular player could be pure speculation, as nor the state of pitch has been disclosed, also the fact that by the time match could begin players might catch injury and not be able to play, like the case of BHajji in last match.

But, from the available lot in my opinion Gambhir and Ganguly would be the player who would be able to shine better than the rest. As, the kind of form Gambhir is in, plus the judgement he has been vetted out he has a lot to prove and his deadly form is in itself enough to vindicate his cause and rub salt in Aussies wounds.

While, Ganguly playing his last test has extra motivation to make it a memorable one and with his form since his return and specially in his couple of past performance his state of form is good enough to make his this dream in reality. Thus, in my opinion they both would gonna shine the most.

While in bowling I think Ishant would again gonna be able to cast his spell and play an important role, along with the rest of the brigade.

IS INDIA'S PERFFORMANCE BETTER THAN THE 20-20 WORLD CUP....COMPARING TO KNOW

Asked by Mohammed in Cricket & Other Sports at   4:15 AM on November 03, 2008

Shreshtha's Answer

Well Mohammed, I think the performance of Indian team has definitely improved since their dream run in T20 World Cup series. As, even though the performance and team spirit they showed was exceptional, but showcasing it in T20 and maintaining it in other version of the game is totally different things.

But, slowly but gradually the team has started to bring that exuberance in the other formats too. The team has been performing in not just the Wham! Bam! format, but the longer and longest format too, which is evident from their performance in the recent series and the series following this one. Now, not just the batsman are firing on all cylinder on diverse conditions but the bowlers too are making the dead pitches look like mine fields.

The team of ODI with the coming of youth looks real fit and head-strong ready to take on any one in the world, while, in test where perseverance is the key senior had again started showing before their unfortunate departure why they ruled not just Indian but World Cricket all over with their greatness and unflappable panache.

In test seniors had again started to make great runs and providing the unbeatable cushion for bowlers, while the bowlers new and old mixed have made such a lethal combo never ever seen in Indian cricket, each bowler in the current line up is not just deadly but beyond exceptional. All asking not just probing question, but looking deadly accurate and vindictive, a kind of menace which once was associated with only W. Indies, or later with Australia.

Thus, in my opinion definitely Indian team is performing better than their T20 performance.

Is it possible like Federer going that anybody will be able to surpass him???

Asked by harish in Cricket & Other Sports at   12:59 PM on October 22, 2008

Shreshtha's Answer

Well Harish, it is a fact in sports and other fields that records are meant to be broken and its the the legend that continue to live on. Thus, for many years Federer has been the player who has been a totally a class apart from rest of the playing field, the way he played for so long it looked like a totally different level and game.

Uptill, now in the history most champion players had ruled the court in different eras, but almost all had one or two shots that were unplayable, or the on called sure point shots. And, most were either good with their front hand or backhand, with the other better than average. But, this player has a whole barrage of shots that opposition finds unplayable, and his prowess in front hand, backhand, on the net, away from net is what makes him different and better than the rest in my opinion.

The way he plays it looks like an artist making his masterpiece, his play has precision and amazing quality to it not found forced nature of men's play.

And, even though in my opinion his record just might break, but under no circumstances would his legend could be foreshadowed. The way he has ruled the court it was a honor in just watching him play.

WHATS UR SAY ON THE NUDGE BETWEEN GAUTAM GAMBHIR AND SIMON KATICH................YESTERDAY IN THE DELHI MATCH

Asked by Abhinav in Cricket & Other Sports at   6:49 PM on October 30, 2008

Shreshtha's Answer

Well Abhinav, the nudge between Gambir and Katich is in my opinion a very important point in the proceedings of the match as well as Indian and World cricket, where change in the cricketing halls of power is totally evident.

This kind of thing has been a constant part of Australians play, but earlier their performance used to be backed by their aggression and it was considered as the justified attitude towards their opposition who were totally humbled and crushed by their game play and complete domination. And, even opposition too didn't dared to protest against it, conisdering the humilation they faced on their hand.

But, with the change in cricketing order of power, all these things have started to change. Indian who have constantly been performing at least on par with the Australian team for a a while have started to stop taking things lying down and not only they were challenging the might of Australians but forced them to retort to sledging devoid of any exceptional gameplay to back it up. Thus, putting them right into the ethics radar.

And, now specially in this series they have not just challenged but performed way way better than Australian and took all right from them to say to this thing any thing. And its India who is performing and have right if any to mock the performance of opposition not the other way around. Thus, the reply by Gambhir in this match and in earlier matches by other players(Zaheer etc) is generated from their superior play and is totally justified in my opinion.

Well Anil, the highest 10th wicket partnership was made successful in the Texaco Trophy of the 1984 season. In the first match of the series played between West Indies and England which West Indies won by 104 runs .

This partnership was played between IVA Richards and M Holding when W. Indies lost their 9th wicket for just 166 runs. At, that time Holding joined Richards for the tenth wicket and both made record breaking 106 runs notout. Out of which Holding contributed just 12 runs in it.

This match Played at Old Trafford, Manchester, on 31 May 1984 and was 55-over match and Richards got the Man of the match award for his heroics innings. This record is by far better than the second placed 2 runs between Abdul Razzaq, Waqar Younis.

Did u watch movie LIFE MEIN KABHI KABHI?if yes then wat according to u is the moral of the story?

Asked by Priya Jain in Movies at   8:37 PM on September 30, 2008

Shreshtha's Answer

Well Priya Jain, the 2007 movie Life Mein Kabhi Kabhi was another of Bollywood's underdog masterpiece. This story from ace Producer Gordhan Tanwani who made PYAAR TO HONA HI THAN, ISHQ, and TARZAN THE WONDER CAR has really done wonders too in this movie with a star cast which is considered B-string in bollywood. And its the story and the movie itself that takes center stage here and not some over-hyped actor.

The movie and the story is about five friends and their life and their quest to achieve happiness through different paths and in the end it is left to be decided whether the real happiness in a person life is money, Power ,success or fame????

As for the moral of the movie it tells via different life different paths that modern youth takes in achieving his goals and in his quest for happpiness and in the end finds himself wanting in almost all means in his ultimate goal. And its the age old path of love and selflessness that actually brings happiness.

Life Mein Kabhie Kabhiee is the story of five friends, five lives, five years, one goal - happiness. On their graduation day Manish (Aftab Shidasani), Rajeev (Dino Morea), Jai (Sameer Dattani), Monica (Nauheed Cyrusi) and Ishita (Anjori) get insanely drunk and have a bet that who out of them would be the happiest in life. They give themselves five years. At the end of five years Manish would decide who was the happiest. All of them have different ideas of happiness.

I feel Sachin Tendulkar body is not cooperating with him and he is more unfit these days. What should Sachin do to be competitive in international cricket.

Asked by Madhu Vamsi in Cricket & Other Sports at   3:45 PM on September 04, 2008

Shreshtha's Answer

Well Madhu, the way Sachin had performed uptill he has made almost every one forgot that he is just human and not an immortal and invincible god that his performance gives the appearance of.

As, for his fitness definitely playing for such a long time and maintaining such peak performance takes its toll, and it is showing on his body, as he is not being given enough time to recover considering his importance to the team. But, what should he do is one thing that only he can answer best. He has attained such status in the cricketing world not just because of good performance and unearthly talent but also because of his pin-point cricket acumen. Thus, even though we can suggest that he should take more time to rest recover fully, and get into the grove in local circuit before bamboozling the international circuit with his vintage touch.

But, it is he who could tell the best remedy of his woes, if there are any. As, its just the standards he has created that makes his current performance below par, other wise an average of above 40 in last couple of series is something that any batsman in the world would cherish to have.

Was Russia a real loser in the recently concluded Olympics?

Asked by Surya in Cricket & Other Sports at   12:34 AM on August 30, 2008

Shreshtha's Answer

Well Surya, I dont think I would agree with you on this one totally. Even though Russia is one of the biggest superpower in the world and its dominance in world sports is if not total but definitely is substantial, and therefore a Globe Rank of 3 out of all the participating nations can under any circumstances be said to be a total lost case.

And it definitely is a thing to be cherished by them, as Rank 3 in Olympics is under any circumstances is no mean task. And, this feat becomes more important considering the internal circumstances in the once one of the most powerful nation which at the moment is only looking a pale self of its glory days.

And, also this year too the performance of Russia had been on equal par with its last Olympic outing.

If you had the money what book would you make into a movie?

Asked by KABIR RIBAK in Movies at   1:55 PM on September 16, 2008

Shreshtha's Answer

Well Kabir, there had been many books in the literary world that have amazing story that is killing all to be turn into celluloid for its strength of story, character, impact on general masses and its viability to be converted onto big screen. Even though best ever book conversion to big screen has already been achieved in the form of The Godfather and its sequel, the amazing masterpiece that set the standard in movie making.

But, in my opinion if I had the money then I would definitely gonna want to make Christopher Buckley movies to big screen. This amazing and one of the best author of all time in my opinion has not made such a big name as Dan Brown or John Grisham in general public, but in literary world he is considered better than them and many other. His simple but hard-hitting style of writing satire makes the reader fall from there places laughing, but still even after laughing reader are aware that the but of joke here is the general public that makes the system and allows it to turn into such a state. His literary genius had already been converted into big screen in the form of Thank You For Smoking, and this was just the tip of entertainment that could be derived from his books, The Little Green Men, No Way To Treat The First Lady, Florence Of Arabia, Boomsday are some of the books that if converted to picturisation by a good director then it would really gonna make one hell of a movie to watch.
