Jyothi C's Answer

Portfolio

A models basic promotional tool is a portfolio which consists of a series of photographs taken by a professional photographer. Only the best pictures of standard size ( 9 by 12 inches ) must be included in the portfolio. The portfolio should ideally have a casual head shot, styled head shot, body shot (conservative swimsuit or lingerie), a fashion shot (sexy), action shot, an editorial shot and even a catalogue shot. Avoid using 2 pictures of the same shoot. You can keep on adding photographs from works you do, once you start getting assignments. Try to keep your portfolio at the agency as they may have clients who comes for an immediate pick.

How to start your career as a model

Submit your portfolio to reputed coordinators, Agencies or Fashion designers and set up an appointment. Some Modelling agencies may have a time each week where a new model can go and see an agent. It is advisable to see several agencies before committing or signing a deal to anyone. Choose an agency/coordinator carefully so you can stay with them for sometime as constantly changing agencies gives you a reputation of being flighty and unprofessional. Once you get a negative reputation it is difficult to sustain in the field, especially in the beginning. Another way to enter into this career is to apply for the contests sponsored by magazines, cloth manufactures, cosmetic companies etc and participating in beauty pageants.

Once the agencies approve of the portfolio, they may call you for an interview. They may have a photo session. If they like you they will promote you among the clients and will look after legalities of the paper work for the job. The agency will charge the client and pay you after deducting their commission. Be professionally at your best on the job.. that may help you get more assignments from the client. Get the pictures from the session you have done and add them to your portfolio. Keep in touch with your agency/coordinator, visit them once in a while to show you care for them.

who is the god of sikhs

Asked by Bawa in Puja & Rituals at   9:47 PM on October 26, 2008

Jyothi C's Answer

They regard their God to be the same one as the Christian, Islamic, and Jewish, amongst others. They view all, or at least these major, religions as differing in worship, but describing the same inherent God. They regard the differences between the various religions akin to looking at the same thing from different viewpoints since all the major religions agree to this deity's inherent nature (compassionate, all-knowing, all-seeing, etc.). Sikhs beleive that there is only one god that created all of us, that created everything.

what is Shradha Pakhsha ?

Asked by unmand singh in Puja & Rituals at   2:28 PM on September 09, 2008

Jyothi C's Answer

Pitr Paksh Shradh, or Pitru Paksha Shraddh, is the annual rituals dedicated to dead parents, relatives and ancestors that are performed in the Krishna Paksha (dark phase) of the Ashwin month in Hindi calendar. The Mahalaya Sharadh Pitru Paksh fortnight begins with Purnima in Ashwin month. It is believed that the Shradh performed during this period is highly auspicious as it reaches the dead relatives immediately and therefore their souls rest in peace. In 2008, Pitru Paksha Shraddh begins on September 15 and ends on September 28 with Mahalaya Shradh.

Mahalaya Shradh is also known as Sarvapitri or Sarvapitru Shradh and is the most important day in the fortnight.

How does sunscreen work?

Asked by Mamta Kharab in Beauty & Fashion at   5:32 PM on September 13, 2008

Jyothi C's Answer

Sunscreen combines organic and inorganic chemicals to filter the light from the sun so that less of it reaches the deeper layers of your skin. Like a screen door, some light penetrates, but not as much as if the door wasn't present. Sunblock, on the other hand, reflects or scatters the light away so that it doesn't reach the skin at all.

The reflective particles in sunblocks usually consist of zinc oxide or titanium oxide. In the past, you could tell who was using a sunblock just by looking, because the sunblock whited out the skin. Not all modern sunblocks are visible because the oxide particles are smaller, though you can still find the traditional white zinc oxide. Sunscreens usually include sunblocks as part of their active ingredients.

While Acne is not life-threatening, it can have a very adverse psychological impact on it's young sufferer. At the very time of your life, when you're extra-conscious about your looks and want to fit in, being marked out by acne can be extremely difficult to live with. Teenagers with acne are often prone to depression and often show poor self-esteem and a general lack of confidence.
The large incidence of Acne is the reason there are so many skin products in the market, designed to fight and cure it.

Some Natural Anti-Acne Products you will find in the market
Tea Tree Oil, Aloe Vera, Zinc, and Vitamin A are some natural products that have been used with some success to cure Acne. A word of caution about 'natural' skin care items. They often contain certain chemicals for preservation purposes. Some of these may not be advisable for you if you're pregnant or have certain special health considerations. As mentioned, it is best to consult with your doctor before embarking on any therapy.

Some Natural Homemade Cures to counter Acne
The most important thing to do if you suffer from Acne is to drink at least four pints of water every day. Drinking a lot of water is very beneficial to your skin. Including fresh fruit and leafy green vegetables in your daily diet will also bring about a marked improvement in the quality of your complexion.

Before bathing, apply a mixture of tomato pulp – real tomota pulp, not packaged one – honey and rose-water to your face and keep for twenty minutes before washing off.

At night, before going to bed, apply a mix of cream, glycerine, and lemon juice to your face and again keep it on for a short while before washing.

Regular Yoga exercises will also improve skin and overall health.

Things to Avoid
Avoid touching your face all the time, keep your hair away from your face, and avoid picking at pimples.

Another important thing if you're prone to Acne is to avoid using heavy make-up – in fact, it is preferable to avoid make-up altogether. For an effective cure, stay as natural as possible.

Who is the founder of Hinduism?

Asked by unmand singh in Puja & Rituals at   2:26 PM on September 09, 2008

Jyothi C's Answer

Normally a philosopher/prophet comes up with a system revolutionary or at least that did not exist before. Accepting the new system disciples and other people start following the religious system and for the new religion that person is the founder.

In case of Hinduism

The system existed from time unmemorable.
Hindu scriptures talk about things that happened at periods of time, whose specified count is much much higher than the period well known to history scholars of current time. (yuga, manvantara, kalpa etc.)
Even the scientific excavations show the existence of well-developed worship, at very early periods.
There were, of course, very many philosophers who came up with new systems. However given the wide spectrum of Hinduism, its accommodativeness towards new ideas and philosophies all the new changes made it a healthy religion that does not get stagnant.
People used their discretion to find the suitable paths through the wisdom of one or more philosophers and there was a real diverse system.
So, there is No Single (Human) Founder for Hinduism and it existed from time unexplored, as a religion.
