will the power crisis come to an end if the nuclear treaty is signed ?

Asked by beegeeaar in News & Current Affairs at   11:55 AM on July 31, 2008

vyj666's Answer

Not by a long shot. It takes about 10 to 15 years to make a new nuclear power plant even if the reactor is imported fully made ! Nuclear fuel is an exhaustible source of energy, sooner than later we will face a Nuclear fuel crisis like the oil crisis of today. It is a strange coincidence though, today I saw a report where Mr. Bush said that the agreement between India and US will help in nuclear non proliferation. What could that mean ? That is exactly what Mr Singh had assured us that our nuclear freedom would not be sacrificed. The body language of Mr bush suggested as if he had made a fool out of someone ! Is Mr. Singh adding feather to his cap or doing a Gorbachev to us ?

The solution to energy crisis is in sources like Wind power, Hydro power, Solar Power and Geothermal power. These are safe, green and easily available at least in India. We have a vast coastlines which is just perfect of wind and wave generated power. With the exception of Northeastern India solar power is an ideal source for all of India. Even in the northeast geothermal and hydro power will more than suffice. From the very beginning why did we ever go for oil or gas power plants. What were our great planners doing ignoring the abundance of resources ! If they had more brains we would not have any energy crisis right now. Mr. Singh is only compounding their errors.

We have evil times ahead of us !

We find bombs exploding at many places in various cities and it has become a daily news now. Will our govt. succeed in dealing with this menace ?

Asked by beegeeaar in News & Current Affairs at   11:52 AM on July 31, 2008

vyj666's Answer

They will provided we help them. Though there is least corruption in the security agencies but there definitely is some. Further these agencies rely on general masses' cooperation. We are a big country and an open one. Our diversity is mind boggling. There is perhaps no way any government can stop such attacks unless we become a police state. I would rather not prefer that. The core of the problem is that the terrorists are getting refuge from people within our country. Further we are hardly careful in our day to day lives. the government can only succeed if we help them with it otherwise absolutely not. Not at least till we are a democracy.

"Dollar is dead, US is in recession" whats your take on this????

Asked by urvi patel in News & Current Affairs at   11:08 PM on July 29, 2008

vyj666's Answer

That is an "over" exaggerated statement if there can even be such a term !

US recession is not yet formal if you would keep in tune with real news you would know US exports have risen by 18% which may very well stop US economy from a full blown recession. There is requirement of about 2 trillion US dollars to deal with the problem at hand and if the US government can extend the crisis to two years rather than one we might have a moderated growth for the next 2 to 3 years in US but no recession !

There you go. Dollar is sick but far from dead and your question comes at a time when it has shown renewed vigor recently, hmmm. The drop in crude prices will only strengthen it further. Things aren't looking fabulous but they are far from outright doomsday. Things merely look glum.

My view is we have a couple may be 3 hard not tough years ahead as far as US is concerned but you should be more concerned about India. We have a major energy, water and military crisis staring at us. We are peacefully debating American struggle for cake or bread ! Is our society in its right mind ?

benglore,ahamadabad & surat...is this not a failure of goverment?

Asked by Riti in News & Current Affairs at   12:50 PM on July 30, 2008

vyj666's Answer

A catastrophe was averted in Surat because of public and administrative cooperation and vigilance. It is a huge success in face of Bangalore and Ahmadabad blasts. We should be at least proud of what we averted at Surat.

Why does it have to be only government's failure. Where do the intelligence agencies get their news from other than the people ! How would a government prevent mishaps if miscreants are sheltered and protected by the people of this country itself ? It is the mindset your question reveals that is responsible for what we are having to suffer. Why does it either have to be the government or God who would protect us like infants ! If we can't be aware and proactive of our responsibilities as a citizen of a multicultural country facing enemies on all borders then we may very well blame it on administration all the time like crybabies and forget it after a while.

This by no means solely a government or intelligence agency failure. It is failure of the general Indian masses to be proactive in their duties as Indian citizen.

Do you think fall in US dollor has affected the oil prices?

Asked by urvi patel in News & Current Affairs at   10:07 PM on July 30, 2008

vyj666's Answer

Terrorism in Africa and middle east has effected the oil prices more than anything else. The sub prime crisis weakened the dollar and hence caused a rise in crude but that is nowhere compared to the harm that the Iraq war and terrorists disrupting pipelines have done. It is also to be remembered that at our present levels of consumption we hardly have crude enough till 2040 at best ! Hence the oil prices will only go northward from here anyway. osama could,nt repeat terror in u.s.a again but in india everyday why?what is aor goverment doing?

Asked by Riti in News & Current Affairs at   12:54 PM on July 30, 2008

vyj666's Answer

It is doing what all governments do. Osama could not hit at US again because the people of America gave a clear mandate to go ahead and attack any nation or person responsible. The American public go out and participate in their elections and make it clear to their candidates what they want. What do we do ? There is no point asking what is the government doing when we sit back and ignore our own civic duties.

The government or the administrative structure is hardly more responsible than we ourselves are.

Are we safe even in our own country? Who is responsible for defenceles of indian citizen? whether it is our government or someone else?

Asked by Abhishek in News & Current Affairs at   8:26 PM on July 29, 2008

vyj666's Answer

Indians themselves are responsible. No political party, intelligence agency or police is in any way more or less responsible than a common man. Surat is a classic example. The vigilance of people has averted a catastrophe like situation in the city. Why does it have to happen only after the blast. If even a bit of civic carefulness had been there perhaps many other blasts had been averted in Ahemdabad, Banglore etc. Intelligence agencies get their information from common men who divulge information to agents. If people don't care the Intelligence network would have to span a tenth of the population to provide proper vigilance.

We need to get something into our heads deep and solid, we all are part of the government, whether we choose it or we help it after choosing it. If we dont become their hands, eyes, ears or hearts the government is as good as dead. We cannot just sit back and decide the government and its agencies would do everything for us. When they approach us we have to help them in all the possible manners or they are simply crippled. Most of these attacks are mostly being traced back to illegal Bangladeshi colonies. We have to ask ourselves why can't we do without a Nepalese or Bangladeshi servant ? May be I disappointed you with my answer but the fact is we have to be more vigilant if we want to be safer. We cannot blame all on the government and sit back and relax.

Should indian government enforce strict rules agains terror in the country? Is the govnmet realy not strickt against Pakistani's terror activities?

Asked by Abhishek in News & Current Affairs at   8:35 PM on July 29, 2008

vyj666's Answer

The current government is neither strict nor proactive against terrorism perpetrated by Pakistan. Strict rules help in speedy execution of terrorists who are caught. It will help if strict rules are brought in. Opportunists will always make use of any law you cannot leave millions undefended because of those few.

Should the "POTA rule" be reintroduce by government ?

Asked by Abhishek in News & Current Affairs at   8:33 PM on July 29, 2008

vyj666's Answer

Absolutely. It must be brought back. Had POTA been here Afzal would have been hanged by now. What is the UPA government waiting for another IC814 to free him ? I say shoot every terrorist on sight no need to take prisoners.

Sorry randomcloud how do you ignore more than 50 dead in a week and more than 96 hours of airtime given to terrorists mostly praising them and showing Indians in fear which is as far removed from truth as possible. Have you seen the crowds near the bombs discovered. Everywhere I have looked there is seething anger and absolutely no fear from the so called "terror"ists who are hiding like rats and cockroaches right now !
