Foodstuffs that are act as lightening agents. Fruits such as pineapples, lemons, berries etc. contain vitamin C and are perfect for your complexion.

Crush any one of these fruits and apply on your skin. Leave for 30 minutes and wash off with water.

how to make hair thick and strong?

Asked by sushma teja in Beauty & Fashion at   2:47 PM on May 27, 2008

Vidya Anand's Answer

Hair is primarily made up of proteins. Thus, a primary necessity for good looking hair is an adequate protein intake.
Fat helps in making the hair look lustrous. Sebum secreted form the sebaceous glands gives hair its shine.
Vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids and amino acids are necessary for cell balance. Therefore they affect the cells responsible for hair growth.
Vitamin E and C, or beta-carotene, specifically act as anti-oxidants, protecting your hair from free radicals. They help your hair to withstand pollution, chemicals, cold, sun, stress and medication.
Oil your hair three times a week.
Oil can be kept minimum for four hours and maximum for 24 hours.
Wash your hair if required daily and if not then three times a day with shampoo.
Never keep your hair wet.
Never brush your hair when wet.
Towel drying is the best way to dry your hair.

I want to remove my spectacles and under eye dark circles in few months, and i want to lose my weight quickly,Please suggest a home remedy for my controversies

Asked by Disha - in Beauty & Fashion at   3:59 PM on May 27, 2008

Vidya Anand's Answer

Have you decided to chuck those thick spectacles for good? You are ready for contacts but there are many varieties available in the market. ...Dark circles that are due to hereditary factors and have been there for 5-7 years without being treated are difficult to treat and cure.

For lifestyle related dark circles, adequate sleep of 7-8 hours and necessary nutrients such as Vitamins C and E are required.

Eye allergies and rubbing of eyes also leads to under eye dark circles.
Kaya offers the Glycolic Peel treatment in which a glycolic acid (a fruit acid made from sugarcane juice) is applied to the affected area. It has lightening effect on the skin and also helps smooth fine lines and wrinkles.

Depending on the intensity and period of the dark circles, the glycolic peel is done once a week and is spread over 10-16 sessions.

Medicated creams available such as Melalite and Melacare can be applied in the morning and the evening. Kaya has also its own range of under-eye products.

Berkowits offers a 15-day Chinese therapy treatment that involves acupuncture, under-eye massage, herbal massage and an under eye-pack. It increases blood circulation and improves the blood flow in the under-eye area.
Any cream that has a skin lightening ingredient helps reduce dark circles.
Consult your dermatologist before using any product.
Cosmetic creams and treatments may not always work and also burn a hole in your pockets. Instead, depend on home remedies that more often than not, do wonders. Here's a look at beauty grandma's way.

Place cold tea bags on the affected area for 15-20 minutes. They help reduce puffiness, dark circles and relax the eyes.

Wrap a grated raw potato in cheesecloth and apply to eyelids for 15-20 minutes. Wipe off residue and apply an eye cream.

Slices of chilled raw potato are an excellent treatment for under eye circles. Just place the potato slices on your lids and relax for 15-30 minutes.

Do It Yourself Face Packs

Powder a few almonds and mix with cream or chilled milk to get a pasty consistency. Apply on the dark circles, leave for 15-20 minutes and wash off with cold water. Almond oil has high vitamin E content and is effective for dark circles and excessively dry skin.

Mix fenugreek powder in milk and leave it on the dark circles overnight. Wash off in the morning.
Do remember that you need enough sleep and also need to give your eyes rest to avoid dark circles. If you over-work your eyes, you may find it difficult to get rid of dark circles.

You will need to lose weight by proper exercise and a diet

Can anybody tell me a permanent remedy to keep hair black from grey to avoid frequent dyeing.

Asked by ANNA PHILIP in Beauty & Fashion at   3:26 PM on May 27, 2008

Vidya Anand's Answer

If you want to preserve your hair colour then you must shampoo your hair less often. Shampooing your hair twice a week is more than enough."

In India however, most of you may feel the need to shampoo every alternate day to get rid of the dust and the pollution. If you do then your hair colour may fade quicker.

Another essential for coloured hair is a 'colour-stay' shampoo. This shampoo has properties that will help preserve hair colour for longer. Infact these colour-protecting shampoos are an absolute must for at least a month after your hair colour.

After that you can go back to your regular brand of shampoo.

Make sure that the type of colour-stay shampoo that you choose suits your hair. Consult with your hairstylist who will be able to recommend a brand that suits your hair best.
