Laser-Assisted In Situ Karatomilleusis (LASIK) is a precision technology used to correct vision problems. The procedure has considerably reduced the time and risks involved with laser eye surgery. Though it is called a surgical procedure, it doesn't take more than ten minutes per eye and needs only anaesthetic eye drops to be used pre-procedure.

LASIK corrects refractive vision problems by flattening the cornea and adjusts the image angle so a person can see clearly again.

LASIK treatment is available in most modern eye hospitals and clinics. Approximate costs of LASIK, inclusive of pre-treatment check-up and medications, are around Rs.25,000 for both the eyes. Make sure you get it done by a qualified and experienced medical expert.
Anyone above the age of 18 can go in for LASIK surgery, after consultation with an expert ophthalmologist. Inform your doctor of previous eye injuries, infections or other health complications.

There are two types of veins that carry blood in your body called deep veins and superficial veins.

The blood flows from the superficial veins to your deep veins. These veins have valves which control the blood flow and keep the blood flowing toward the heart.

However, when these valves do not function properly, the blood flows in the wrong way, leading to varicose veins.

Before treating varicose veins, get a colour Doppler done to find out how deep they have gone.

Varicose veins can be then treated by stripping the veins. You can also treat varicose veins by tying crepe bandages or elastic stockings. They can also be treated by laser.

Varicose veins cannot be treated by medication. So don't self-medicate.

Drink a glass of warm milk before bed. Adding in a little honey will help.
Walk for half an hour or more in the late evening.
Have a light dinner, latest by 8 p.m.
Read a light-hearted book or take a warm shower before bed.
Avoid caffeine, nicotine and overly sweet food.
