Tell me abt SAP

Asked by Cristina in Computers & Technology at   5:47 PM on September 10, 2008

KHURSHEED's Answer

SAP, started in 1972 by five former IBM employees in Mannheim, Germany, states that it is the world's largest inter-enterprise software company and the world's fourth-largest independent software supplier, overall.

The original name for SAP was German: Systeme, Anwendungen, Produkte, German for "Systems Applications and Products." The original SAP idea was to provide customers with the ability to interact with a common corporate database for a comprehensive range of applications. Gradually, the applications have been assembled and today many corporations, including IBM and Microsoft, are using SAP products to run their own businesses.

SAP applications, built around their latest R/3 system, provide the capability to manage financial, asset, and cost accounting, production operations and materials, personnel, plants, and archived documents. The R/3 system runs on a number of platforms including Windows 2000 and uses the client/server model. The latest version of R/3 includes a comprehensive Internet-enabled package.

SAP has recently recast its product offerings under a comprehensive Web interface, called mySAP.com, and added new e-business applications, including customer relationship management (CRM) and supply chain management (SCM).

As of January 2007, SAP, a publicly traded company, had over 38,4000 employees in over 50 countries, and more than 36,200 customers around the world. SAP is turning its attention to small- and-medium sized businesses (SMB). A recent R/3 version was provided for IBM's AS/400 platform.

Why the name (con) file cannot created on any PC?

Asked by Mandeep in Computers & Technology at   4:20 PM on September 10, 2008

KHURSHEED's Answer

Folders with name: CON, PRN, AUX, CLOCK$, NUL, COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4, COM5,
COM6, COM7, COM8, COM9, LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, LPT4, LPT5, LPT6, LPT7, LPT8, & LPT9
cant be created using Windows Explorer or Command Prompt directly! ( Try this
out.. right click on your desktop and try creating folder named "con"it changes
back to "ew Folder" )

This is prevented as XP terms these folders as SYSTEM Folder Names reserved only
for the Operating System.. But there is a backdoor..(this trick is to create
system folders on XP through command prompt )

Try this:
CREATION

Syntax:md \\.\\$path
Example:prompt>md \\.\\C:\con
Explanation: This would create a folder named "con" on your "C Drive"

Similarly to delete such folder:
DELETION
Syntax:rd/s \\.\\$path
Example:prompt>rd/ s \\.\\C:\con
Explanation: This would remove the folder named "con"!
Note: rd(Remove Directory) command is used with "/s" switch as otherwise it
would give error that "folder is not empty"!

On another hand...if you ever wondered how to create a folder with no
name...then try this:

Create a New Folder from Windows Explorer
Select rename & type: "ALT+255"(Use Numpad)..thats it!
ALT+255 stands for blank character in ASCII...so it still accepts your folder name!

What You Need to Know Google’s Chrome Browser?

Asked by Satya ~ in Computers & Technology at   1:01 PM on September 02, 2008

KHURSHEED's Answer

* Chrome has a privacy mode; Google says you can create an “incognito” window “and nothing that occurs in that window is ever logged on your computer.” The latest version of Internet Explorer calls this InPrivate. Google’s use-case for when you might want to use the “incognito” feature is e.g. to keep a surprise gift a secret. As far as Microsoft’s InPrivate mode is concerned, people also speculated it was a “porn mode.”
* Web apps can be launched in their own browser window without address bar and toolbar. Mozilla has a project called Prism that aims to do similar (though doing so may train users into accepting non-URL windows as safe or into ignoring the URL, which could increase the effectiveness of phishing attacks).
* To fight malware and phishing attempts, Chrome is constantly downloading lists of harmful sites. Google also promises that whatever runs in a tab is sandboxed so that it won’t affect your machine and can be safely closed. Plugins the user installed may escape this security model, Google admits.

This looks like a very interesting project, and I think it can’t hurt to have more competition in the browser area. Google is playing this as nicely as possible by open-sourcing things, with perhaps part of the reason to try to defend against monopoly accusations – after all, Google already owns a lot of what’s happening inside the browser, and some may feel owning a browser too could be a little too much power for a single company (Google could, for instance, release browser features that benefit their sites more than most other sites... as can Microsoft with Internet Explorer). For now, until Chrome is released in a testable version, how much of the speed, stability and user interface promises will be fullfilled – and how much of the interface you’ll be able to configure in case you don’t like it – remains to be seen.

will iPhone without 3G in india will be succesfull?

Asked by ranjan in Computers & Technology at   11:50 AM on September 02, 2008

KHURSHEED's Answer

No, What i think is iPhone will not be successful in India, Because many of the features have been removed to pull the price down to 10,000. Instead of iPhone I suggest you to consider following options.

* If you are looking for Style statement + Good phone, then buy iPod Touch and a good phone. Hacked iPhone are an other option that people can consider.
* If you are looking for a smart phone then consider Blackberry, which will be way cheaper if you wait for sometime and buy it after iPhone launch.
* If you are looking for a Video device, something that you can use to watch movies / videos while on journey/ while you commute to office, consider Archos [Link] and Cowon [Link]. They can play video in any format unlike iPhone which plays very few formats. They can also be connected to Television (TV) and record your favorite programs. You can buy some dockets to play them loud on speakers or connect them to your speakers.
* If you are looking for iPhone like phones which can play all video formats and has good applications, then consider Neo Freerunner (Link)
* You can even wait for Android based handsets. HTC will reportedly be shipping the first Android based handset. It will surely be worth waiting. Take my word for it. Android (Link) is the mobile platform from Google.
* If you are looking for GPS phones then consider latest Samsung phone and Nokia phones, N78 has it I guess.

The .NET Framework is an integral Windows component that supports building and running the next generation of applications and XML Web services. The .NET Framework is designed to fulfill the following objectives:

* To provide a consistent object-oriented programming environment whether object code is stored and executed locally, executed locally but Internet-distributed, or executed remotely.
* To provide a code-execution environment that minimizes software deployment and versioning conflicts.
* To provide a code-execution environment that promotes safe execution of code, including code created by an unknown or semi-trusted third party.
* To provide a code-execution environment that eliminates the performance problems of scripted or interpreted environments.
* To make the developer experience consistent across widely varying types of applications, such as Windows-based applications and Web-based applications.
* To build all communication on industry standards to ensure that code based on the .NET Framework can integrate with any other code.

whats is Google’s Chrome Browser?

Asked by Satya ~ in Computers & Technology at   1:01 PM on September 02, 2008

KHURSHEED's Answer

Google is working a new web browser, called Chrome. The software may be available for download as early as tomorrow. In the meantime, Google has mailed a comic book about the browser to Google Blogoscoped. Going by the comic book, Chrome is open-source, and boasts interface and performance features that certainly sound appealing.

Chrome will feature the Google search box, as Firefox does as part of its Google subsidy, while Microsoft’s Internet Explorer features Microsoft search. This is a browser battle in the search market-share war, but a lot more.

Google is making a bid for the many companies and independent developers, who have already appreciated Google’s financing of Firefox as it has increased market share against IE around the world. Chrome, like Firefox, will have its code as open-source, to let developers build a wide variety of plugins as they already have on Firefox.

In terms of interface, Chrome will offer a thumbnailed start page, showing you your nine most visited pages and other, recommended pages. The side of the page will show recently bookmarked pages and searches. Seems like a good spot for some contextually targeted Google ads, too. Google’s search box in Chrome (see top comic) will also feature these related results.

Google is also making changes to tabs and windows. The interface will also show tabs above the web address bar, whereas other browsers show tabs beneath the address bar. One feature will let you keep a particular page hidden the browser history and other means that browsers keep track of your behavior. Will Google still track what hidden pages you visit, I wonder?

I want to buy 512 mb ram, 20 gb harddisk desktop pc. what will be the approx rate for branded and assembled desktop pc?

Asked by SESHAN in Computers & Technology at   10:03 AM on August 06, 2008

KHURSHEED's Answer

Hi Seshan, You must be knowing the current technology is Quad-Core Server CPU which is very high graphic and high configuration. If you want Quad-Core assembled desktop PC it will cost you around 30K to 35K. There are many other options like Core to Due, Dual Core, P4 etc., There many funda is rate is directly proportional to the configuration. That mean if you increase the configuration the price also increases. Intel is the best brand and I recommend you to go with Core to Due which will be around 25000/-. Take Care. Byeeeee.

WHAT IS JAVA ?

Asked by rakesh in Computers & Technology at   8:33 AM on July 31, 2008

KHURSHEED's Answer

A high-level programming language developed by Sun Microsystems. Java was originally called OAK, and was designed for handheld devices and set-top boxes. Oak was unsuccessful so in 1995 Sun changed the name to Java and modified the language to take advantage of the burgeoning World Wide Web.

Java is an object-oriented language similar to C++, but simplified to eliminate language features that cause common programming errors. Java source code files (files with a .java extension) are compiled into a format called bytecode (files with a .class extension), which can then be executed by a Java interpreter. Compiled Java code can run on most computers because Java interpreters and runtime environments, known as Java Virtual Machines (VMs), exist for most operating systems, including UNIX, the Macintosh OS, and Windows. Bytecode can also be converted directly into machine language instructions by a just-in-time compiler (JIT).

Java is a general purpose programming language with a number of features that make the language well suited for use on the World Wide Web. Small Java applications are called Java applets and can be downloaded from a Web server and run on your computer by a Java-compatible Web browser, such as Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer
