It is very sad that things should happen thus. But don't you think 99 percent of women have that complaint? How you handle the situation is in your hands, as far as Indian men are concerned. Personally their characters leave much to be desired. With slow manipulation, many women have made servants of husbands who hide behind their families in order to dominate their wives.
Don't give up. Don't divorce because the next one won't be any better. This is what you will get in India and loneliness or remarriage will only be terrible. So the girl should return to her mother's house, find some source of income for herself and then join the in laws. If they show cruelty, physical assault , brutality, then divorce is the only go. When there are threats/ cheap treatment, one must try to be independent economically and put off the birth of kids for some years. Why should you bring additional burden into the world when your own ground is slipping away.
I feel marriage is meant only for men who are responsible and intend to make their own lives happy. Others who marry only to gratify their senses, should look for prostitutes and not marry at all.Marriage is mutual responsibility. Both parties must work to make it a success. It is a sin to make a woman cry.
