Asked by Sonu in Computers & Technology at   2:47 AM on February 08, 2008

Sanket Vora's Answer

CD-Recordable) A writable CD technology using a type of compact disc that can be recorded, but not erased (CD-Rs are "write once" discs). CD-R discs are used to master CD-ROMs, to back up data and to make copies of data for distribution. "Burning" a CD-R requires a CD-R drive, CD-RW drive or a combo CD/DVD drive. CD-R discs can be read on most every type of CD drive, including older CD-ROM units.

In practice, the term "CD" refers to all CD formats. The phrase "burn a CD" really means "burn a CD-R."

What is CGI?

Asked by Sonu in Computers & Technology at   2:48 AM on February 08, 2008

Sanket Vora's Answer

Specification by which a Web server passes data between itself and an application program. Typically, a Web user will make a request of the Web server, which in turn passes the request to a CGI application program. The program processes the request and passes the answer to the server, which in turn sends it to the user. The entire interchange follows the rules of the CGI specification, which is actually part of the HTTP protocol. Sanket Vora's Answer

Written certification of an examination, treatment, necropsy carried out by a veterinarian. Because the certificates are often the instruments on which compensation is made and lawsuits decided they are very important to the reputation of the veterinarian who prepares them and to the profession and its status in the community. The two areas of common error are the incomplete certificate that omits critical matters, especially the accurate identification of the patient, and the omission of the required entries which are left for the owner to complete, providing an opportunity and temptation to defraud.

What is CD-RW?

Asked by Sonu in Computers & Technology at   2:48 AM on February 08, 2008

Sanket Vora's Answer

(CD-ReWritable) The only rewritable CD technology. CD-RW disks look like other CD media, but with close inspection, they have a more polished surface with a very dark blue-gray cast. Similar to a hard disk, files can be added and deleted, and the media must be formatted before use. However, unlike a hard disk platter, which can be rewritten millions of times, CD-RWs have a maximum limit of 1,000 rewrites.

In practice, the term "CD" refers to all CD formats. The phrase "rewrite the data on the CD" really means "rewrite the data on the CD-RW."

Sanket Vora's Answer

Information about robot

Asked by rahul don in Computers & Technology at   11:16 AM on February 08, 2008

Sanket Vora's Answer

A stand-alone hybrid computer system that performs physical and computational activities. Capable of performing many different tasks, it is a multiple-motion device with one or more arms and joints. Robots can be similar in form to a human, but industrial robots do not resemble people at all.

The term is attributed to Czech dramatist Karel Capek in his 1921 play entitled "R.U.R. - Rossum's Universal Robots." Capek applied the Czech word "robota," which means "forced labor" or "servitude" to the mechanized people in the skit. Three years later, robots appeared in Fritz Lang's classic silent movie "Metropolis," and they have been with us ever since.

what is virtual private network?.

Asked by satyendra in Computers & Technology at   12:53 PM on February 08, 2008

Sanket Vora's Answer

A virtual private network (VPN) is a communications network tunneled through another network, and dedicated for a specific network. One common application is secure communications through the public Internet, but a VPN need not have explicit security features, such as authentication or content encryption. VPNs, for example, can be used to separate the traffic of different user communities over an underlying network with strong security features.

A VPN may have best-effort performance, or may have a defined Service Level Agreement (SLA) between the VPN customer and the VPN service provider. Generally, a VPN has a topology more complex than point-to-point. The distinguishing characteristic of VPNs are not security or performance, but that they overlay other network(s) to provide a certain functionality that is meaningful to a user community.
