Is it possible to remove a tattoo?

Asked by RKSRIVASTAVA in Beauty & Fashion at   11:06 PM on October 15, 2008

sk's Answer

Removal

While tattoos are considered permanent, it is possible to remove them. Complete removal, however, may not be possible (although many doctors and laser practitioners make the claim that upwards of 95% removal is possible with the newest lasers, especially with black and darker colored inks), and the expense and pain of removing them typically will be greater than the expense and pain of applying them.

How To Get Rid Of Heat Rash

Asked by sundari in Beauty & Fashion at   11:57 AM on October 14, 2008

sk's Answer

Up here in Minnesota, the land of 10,000 lakes surrounded by poison ivy and teeming with mosquitoes, we know our rashes and how to get rid of rashes. I’d bet that in northern Minnesota, antihistamines outsell cigarettes and beer on any given summer day, believe it or not. (You probably shouldn’t.) Once, I had a heat rash that was so bad I had to stay indoors for almost a whole week. Now, to a child who only has 12 weeks of summer before going back to a private Catholic school, that’s torture—plain and simple. I know what rashes are. I also know a rash can show up in the strangest of places. Got an itchy red mess on your arm, or your leg, or in one of your nether regions? Want to know how to get rid of a rash? Well, here’s some good news: most rashes will clear up on their own, but there are some home remedies and treatments that you can do to help ease discomfort and speed up the healing process. I should warn you before you go on reading about how to get rid of a rash, that if you’re experiencing any of the symptoms I’ve outlined to the left, you should seek medical attention as soon as possible.

How To Get Rid Of Whiteheads

Asked by sundari in Beauty & Fashion at   11:52 AM on October 14, 2008

sk's Answer

Step1
Apply a hot, wet compressor on an existing whitehead to open the pore. Pop the whitehead with a sterile needle and gently squeeze it. Wash your hands and face before and after to avoid infection.
Step2
Exfoliate with a facial scrub suitable for your skin tone 2 to 3 times a week. Use a natural exfoliate like oatmeal mixed with yogurt if you have oily skin or milk in case of dry skin. Apply this paste all over your face, leave it for a couple of minutes and massage with your fingertips in circular motion.
Step3
Keep your skin clean by washing your face diligently with warm water and mild soap at least twice a day. Steam your face over hot water to unclog the pores once every 3 days.
Step4
See a dermatologist if home treatments are not helpful. Whiteheads are removed using an extraction method at the office where the dermatologist uses a sterile pen-like instrument to open the pores and remove plugged skin cells and sebum.
Step5
Use topical lotion or cream that has retinoid (derived from vitamin A) to open clogged pores. Any acne or blackhead cream like salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide will also work on whiteheads.

What Are Carrier Oils

Asked by sundari in Beauty & Fashion at   11:56 AM on October 14, 2008

sk's Answer

Carrier oil, also known as base oil or vegetable oil, is used to dilute essential oils and absolutes before they are applied to the skin. They are so named because they carry the essential oil onto the skin. Carrier oils do not contain a concentrated aroma, unlike essential oils, nor do they evaporate like them.

There are a range of different carrier oils each with their own individual properties and suitability towards different treatments in aromatherapy. Infused oils are a combination of a carrier oil and various herbs.

Ways To Get Rid Of Blackheads

Asked by sundari in Beauty & Fashion at   11:56 AM on October 14, 2008

sk's Answer

Step1
Try steaming your face. You don't have to visit a beauty salon or spa in order to reap the benefits of one. Using a bowl, add some hot water, not boiling hot but steaming. You don't want to burn your skin. Soak a washcloth in the water for a short time until it's thoroughly warm. Now lay the cloth on your face until the cloth becomes cool. Then repeat the process until the rag has been applied to your face for a total of 20 minutes. Clogged pores equal blackheads. Steam equals open pores which prevents blackheads.
Step2
Use the right cleanser or scrub. You can find different facial 'scrubs' targeted to zit and blackhead removal as well as prevention. There are different scrubs and cleansers for different skin types so make sure you know your skin type before you buy. Be sure to leave the scrub or cleanser on at least thirty seconds in order for it to work effectively.
Step3
Try simple at-home quick remedies. Many people have proven that toothpaste works great on zits. Just put a dab of toothpaste, any kind, on your fingertip and dab on your troublesome zits at night. Be sure the toothpaste can be on there for at least 6 hours in order for it to work properly.
Step4
Don't fall victim to temporary relief. Pore strips are known to help remove blackheads but regular use of these strips could end up hurting your skin. They are also temporary fixes because you aren't doing anything to 'prevent' the blackheads; you are only removing them for more to appear later on. Save your money for a cleanser or even a facial mask targeted to zits and blackheads.
Step5
Don't touch your face with dirty hands. By dirty hands I mean unless you 'just' finished washing them, don't touch your face! You might impulsively pick at your face and do not realize the dirt and bacteria that could be on your hands may very well help the production of your blackheads and zits. Try to refrain from instinctively touching a problem zit or any part of your face without first washing your hands.
Step6
Use products with the right ingredients. Look for any of the following ingredients when choosing a zit or blackhead removal treatment: Benzoyl Peroxide, Salicylic Acid, Sulfur, Resorcinol, Alcohol and Acetone. You can view the link below in the resources to learn about each ingredient and how it helps you battle acne.

how to Removing Underarm Hair?

Asked by sundari in Beauty & Fashion at   11:56 AM on October 14, 2008

sk's Answer

Step1
Use a sharp razor blade or clippers to shave your underarm hair. This method is the easiest, as it takes no longer than three to five minutes to finish. Along with using a razor, you can also put shaving cream under the arms to prevent any irritation or scars on the skin. It is also best to take a bath or shower prior to shaving as the pores in your skin can easily open and soften the hair enough to shave easily. You will stay hairless for at least a week using this method.
Step2
See a Laser Hair Removal Specialist if you want your underarm hair removed professionally. Generally most procedures will cost from $100 to $150 for hair removal and the treatment will last between five to seven minutes long. The specialist will target the area where hair is found under the armpits with a laser light and automatically take away any hair. For permanent results, you might need to make a few more visits to the hair specialist as hair cells grow frequently.
Step3
Buy a hair removal cream--also known as Chemical depilatory that chemically works to get rid of each hair strand. This type of hair removal proven to be one of the safest ways to easily remove underarm hair automatically without the risk of any cuts or razor bumps. There are different types of Chemical depilatories that you can use: creams, gels, roll-ons, mousses or sprays. Different formulas are available, depending on the texture of your hair, whether it is coarse or fine. If your skin is sensitive, you can choose Aloe Vera or a moisturizing formula as it is less harsh on the skin. A popular brand such as ‘Veet’ or ‘Sally Hansen’ sells variety of hair removal creams for your specific needs.
Step4
Visit a salon/spa to get professional waxing done for your underarms. In order to get waxing, the hairs under both of your arms must be between 1/4- to 1/2-inch long for it to be stripped off the skin. Another option to consider is buying a do-it-yourself waxing kit without being in the hands of a cosmetologist. The only thing you need is waxing strips and a cloth to clean the underarm where the hairs were once located. This method last two to eight weeks depending on how properly the hair was removed.
Step5
Get electrolysis if you want permanent removal of the underarm hair. Electrolysis is best to be performed by a professional so there is a less chance of any skin infections or permanent damage to the skin. The opposite to the laser procedure, electrolysis has an electric current run down the hair follicles while completely destroying the hair roots and leaving zero chance of hair ever growing back under the arms.

How To Remove Blackheads

Asked by sundari in Beauty & Fashion at   12:01 PM on October 14, 2008

sk's Answer

Blackheads are very common skin problem. If you are looking for more information on blackheads treatment then read on this article to discover some effective home remedies for blackheads.

Step1
Thorough cleansing should stop some blackheads from forming, while steaming is the most effective way of getting rid of them. steaming brings them to the surface of the skin from where they can be eased out with special extractors available at all chemists.
Step2
Always close the pores with a mild astringent sush as witch-hazel aferwards.
Step3
My never-fail trick to keep blackheads at bay and tone my skin before a night over my face is to rub a wedge of juicy, red tomato over my face and neck for about five minutes and rinse it off. Tomato is very rich in vitamins A, B, C and E and contains amino acids and salts, such as citrates and tartraties, that give it a sour taste and make it a good astringent for the skin.

How To Get Rid Of Stretch Marks

Asked by sundari in Beauty & Fashion at   12:01 PM on October 14, 2008

sk's Answer

Step1
Evaluate your stretch marks before you select a treatment method. New stretch marks are going to be pink or red, while older stretch marks are going to be silvery.
Step2
Consider a stretch mark treatment cream. Stretch marks are not going to magically disappear if you use a cream treatment, but they will soften and fade. When shopping for a stretch mark treatment cream look for collagen, elastin, pro-retinol and anti-oxidants.
Step3
Consider your surgical options. The only way to permanently remove stretch marks from your body is to have them surgically removed. Even with this process you will still probably have a few remaining stretch marks.
Step4
Learn more about non-surgical treatment options for stretch marks. Chemexfoliation and Derma-peels are both non-surgical options for reducing the severity of your stretch marks. These treatments will not completely remove your stretch marks but they will soften and fade them.

How To Get Rid Of Acne Marks

Asked by sundari in Beauty & Fashion at   12:02 PM on October 14, 2008

sk's Answer

Step1
Rub vitamin E oil on any areas where you have acne marks. Vitamin E helps to reduce the appearance of scarring, but it takes a long time.
Step2
If that doesn't work, or you would like a quicker option, you should set an appointment with a dermatologist. He or she may recommend one of the following ways to get rid of acne scars.
Step3
Prescription medicines. There are some medicines your dermatologist can prescribe which may help.
Step4
Subcusion. This is a process that lifts the upper layer of skin, which allows the blood to flow better and encourages healing.
Step5
Chemical peel. This is where you put a chemical on your skin which burns away the top layer.
Step6
Dermabrasion. This removes the top layer of skin using a rotating buffer machine, similar to a sander.
