How can I make my face look younger?

Asked by rani devi in Beauty & Fashion at   1:10 PM on October 16, 2008

sk's Answer

Let's face it. We're all worried about wrinkles and sagging. However, not everyone wants to go under the knife to look better. Here are a few tricks to try with just a little bit of make up.

Step1
Start with a cream foundation that is light in texture and as close to your skin color as possible. The best place to test the color is on your jaw line. Apply foundation with fingers and blend in well especially around your hairline and jaw line.
Step2
Use concealer under your eyes and as a foundation on your lips. Choose a shade that is about 3 shades lighter than your skin and don't forget to blend.
Step3
A bronzer is a wonderful product you can use instead of blush. Sweep across your cheeks, nose, forehead, chin and eyelids. You don't need eye shadow. A bronzer is a great alternative to eye shadow for a healthy, natural look.
Step4
Add your mascara. Just a few strokes is all you need and don't forget to let the lashes dry between layers. You can use mascara on the bottom lashes as well even if it's just on the outer corners.
Step5
Your lip liner should be just a few shades darker that your lips. You don't want a dark line because this doesn't look natural. A lip liner also will make your lips appear fuller. As we age, our lips tend to become thinner. No need for collegian lips which sometimes look more fake than attractive.
Step6
Use a lip gloss that brightens your face up. Find one that feels good on your lips. You don't want one that is too sticky.

Is bleaching teeth safe?

Asked by rani devi in Beauty & Fashion at   1:25 PM on October 16, 2008

sk's Answer

Most dentists now offer bleaching as an esthetic treatment for their patients. The American Dental Association has published the following statement:

"Dentist-prescribed, home-applied bleaching made by a reputable manufacturer and used under the supervision of a dentist in a relatively short-term treatment duration is safe and recognized as most effective in lightening the color of teeth. Bleaching materials that have received the ADA Seal of Acceptance are recommended.

Mild thermal sensitivity [sensitivity to cold] is a common side effect associated with most in-office and dentist-prescribed home bleaching methods. However, no long term irreversible tissue effects have been demonstrated in relevant clinical studies."

Peer reviewed studies have found no irreversible side effects from bleaching with 10 % carbamide peroxide.

How to stop the acne?

Asked by rani devi in Beauty & Fashion at   1:24 PM on October 16, 2008

sk's Answer

1. Buy the necessary items from the 'things you'll need' section below. Hang your new pillow in the sun to air out the cover and stuffing.
2. Wash the rest of the things on the list in hot water with bleach and laundry detergent. Dry your things until they are hot and really dry. Use these clean things and only these clean things every day for at least 30 days.
3. Change your pillow case every day. This is the primary step that will really make a difference, to have a clean thing to rest your face on while sleeping. Change your top sheet every day for at least the first two weeks, then go to every other day for a while.
4. Wear a fresh T-shirt and/or bra every day.
5. Wash your face and dry yourself with fresh towels every day.
6. Wash these things by themselves, in hot water with detergent and bleach every 4 days. There's no point in sharing bacteria. Stop your pets from licking you; a dog's tongue is a bacteria camp.
7. Change your toothbrush every week for two weeks, then once a month thereafter. Your tongue actually has more bacteria than your dog's does.
8. Focus on not touching your face with your hands. If you do, wash your hands.
9. Wash your hands at least four times a day anyway, and clean your fingernails each time.
10. Wash your eyeglasses and jewelry with soap every day. Wash your hair every day and try to wear it off your face.
11. Expect to notice a difference after about 2 weeks, and see increasing improvement in your skin as long as you continue to do this.

Natural remedy for Dark neck?

Asked by RKSRIVASTAVA in Beauty & Fashion at   11:22 PM on October 15, 2008

sk's Answer

The neck is one of the most neglected part of the human anatomy when it comes to caring. More often than not we take special care of our face, the lips, eyes, but fail to give the due attention to the neck. This often leads to dark, scrubby looking necks that begin to show signs of aging and wrinkles a tad too fast.
Caring for the neck can be as simple or as complex as we want it to be. On one end of the spectrum is a daily scrub using off the shelf lotions and massage creams. On the other end, one can use the numerous home recipes and such methods that are cheap and still effective. They require some effort on our part to prepare, but once ready, they provide the best glow possible.

A few such tips on neck care are enumerated below :-

• A carrot mix – Mix a grated carrot with some honey. Apply this on the neck region and leave it for approx 10 to 15 minutes. Wash and see the difference. A regular regime of this recipe is suggested.

• Use a mix of whipped egg and lemon to soften the skin and make it glow. Used very often by stars and is a staple method for quick results.

• Applying milk on the neck is another way that can help you get glowing and soft skin.

• Sandalwood packs are another useful way to get a great looking skin.

I have stretch marks on my thighs. How do I get rid of them?

Asked by RKSRIVASTAVA in Beauty & Fashion at   11:07 PM on October 15, 2008

sk's Answer

Stretch marks are the scars that are caused by the skin being stretched beyond it’s natural limit. This limit is different for each individual, there are some people who naturally have more elastic skin and therefore are not as prone to stretch marks as others. Stretch marks are not simply found on women, as men get them as well. The typical causes of stretch mark includes pregnancy, extreme weight gain, puberty and bodybuilding. The typical places that you will find stretch marks include the upper arms, the abdomen, the breasts, the legs, butt and upper thighs. At first, stretch marks are red line and over time they will fade to a pale white color. Thankfully there are ways that you can reduce stretch marks and possibly eliminate them altogether.

Step1
Time. Stretch marks will fade over time. If you are hesitant about trying to get rid of them, you can simply wait for them to fade.
Step2
Exfoliate every day. Get a good loofah and exfoliate the area that is plagued by stretch marks every day.
Step3
Apply lotion. Increasing the elasticity of the skin is important so this is where creams and lotions come into play. Typically cocoa butter, shea butter, jojoba oil, vitamin E and rose hip oil are excellent for improving the condition of the skin and fading scars.
Step4
Increase the circulation. Taking hot showers or baths and massaging the areas where the stretch marks are will improve the blood flow to the those areas, this will help promote healing and help reduce and eliminate stretch marks.
Step5
Get some sun. Tanning can decrease and eliminate minor stretch marks.
Step6
Un-stretch the skin. Losing weight and getting the skin back to its normal size can help get rid of stretch marks.
Step7
Vitamin E capsules. Though listed previously with the lotions, getting Vitamin E gel tabs from the supplement section of the grocery will help as well. Simply puncture or break open the pill and rub the oil into the stretch marks.
Step8
Retin-A. This needs to be prescribed by a doctor, but this cream is very effective for getting rid of stretch marks.
Step9
Increase water intake. Maintaining proper hydration will help give your skin the ability to bounce back into shape and shrink away those lines.
Step10
Get active. Physical activity and proper diet will also help get your body and skin strong. This will help decrease the appearance of stretch marks.

Natural Remedies to Improve Complexion

Asked by RKSRIVASTAVA in Beauty & Fashion at   11:19 PM on October 15, 2008

sk's Answer

If you are reading this your probably know that there are countless health and beauty programs out there that purport to improve your skin. These range from cocktails of exotic herbs to regiments of mild acids. In these few, simple steps you can realize an inexpensive, long-term remedy to a dull, ruddy complexion.

Step1
Also called the “anti-stress vitamin,” the B5 or pantothenic acid tablet actually helps regulate the secretion of hormones that causes blemishes to form internally. Dosage depends on your body, weight and severity of your case, but do not exceed 1,500 mg daily. Take on a full stomach with plenty of water.
Step2
People who drink a lot of alcohol, eat too many refined foods, or are under a lot of stress naturally have a deficiency of B5 in their system. B5 is just one of many ways to restoring balance to your body. This means also eating plenty of fresh, whole foods and drinking lots of water.
Step3
If you are looking for natural sources of B5, sunflower seeds, mushrooms, yogurt, and corn are particularly potent. These can be eaten to supplement your vitamin capsule regiment.
Step4
Despite the claims that candy bars and potato chips can cause blemishes, most skin disturbances of this nature are actually caused by bacteria build up. Topical creams and face washes will never get at the root of the problem. A mild face wash is probably the best complement to healthier eating habits.
Step5
If you are looking for on-the-spot treatment, application of lemon juice (not concentrate, but actual juice) can be very effective. Not only is the citric acid good at breaking down the infection, but the Vitamin C also helps to restore the natural pigment and health of your skin to avoid scaring.
