It is sad that a 'cut and paste ' answer to your question has references to some pictures, which obviously are not there. Now the real test of rela rudraksh:
1.The real rudraksh sits down on the base of the water.
2. The real rudraksh is round, barring 3 & 4 'mukhi' rudrakshs, which are slightly drum shaped, or visually seem so due to the presence of the 'mukhs'.
3. To find out the actual 'mukhs' of any rudraksh, you will have to sacrifice one bead. Buy two beads of any number of 'mukhs', randomly pick one and cut it transversly from the center, the number of lines emerging from the center of the rudraksh till the outer skin of the bead represent the actual 'mukhs'. If you find the declaration and the number of lines correct, consider the seller to be genuine.
4. The flat two 'mukhi' and cresent shaped one 'mukhi' rudrakshs being sold in the market are not real rudrakshs, they are called 'bhadraksh'. The real rudraksh beads HAVE to be ROUND.
