How much aloe vera, cocnut milk and wheat germ oil do I use to make a shampoo?

Asked Anonymously in Beauty & Fashion at   6:02 AM on March 15, 2009

Senthilkumar's Answer

Hi,

There are many toxic chemical-laden beauty products, including hair shampoos. Some chemicals found in shampoos and conditioners have been linked to chronic illnesses and diseases, such as breast cancer.

For many people, this is a good reason to switch to natural products. This also has an added benefit – naturally made beauty products will save you money!

Here are tips on how to make you own natural shampoo. Follow the instructions carefully.

Mix 1 ounce of olive oil, one egg yolk and 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. You can also add lemon juice; just remember that it can lighten dark hair.

Because homemade shampoo does not have any sudsing agents, it will not lather up as much as a commercial shampoo. But do not worry; it will clean just as well.

If you want, you can blend in castile soap for a shampoo to lather. You can also add in eucalyptus essential oil to make the mix smell good.

If you have time, it’s always a good idea to dry your hair naturally.

What should i do to make my skin to glow?

Asked by rutuja mhatr in Beauty & Fashion at   7:04 PM on April 01, 2009

Senthilkumar's Answer

Hi,

People are obsessed with looking as young as possible for as long as possible! They want the fountain of youth! You can tell it is an obsession because there are so many different products on the market to help with anti-aging. It is a billion dollar business with new products and hypes being launched everyday. What works and what does not? If you are a woman then you are probably more concerned with your appearance than men.

Well saying that, men are obsessed with their appearance they just claim not to be. So even though this article is for women, men can benefit from it too.

There are so many different products on the market, how do you know which ones are actually effective? Many of the products are falsely advertised, claiming things that they can not deliver. So how can you find out which products live up to their claims? Well you need a source of accurate information so you can make informed decisions.

Anti-aging products are not cheap, you simply could not afford to try all of them. You have to be able to differentiate the products that work, from the products that are designed to separate you from your hard earned cash.

There are several different substances that have been proven to be effective treatments for your skin. The most effective substances are vitamin A derivatives, such as retinol A. If you feel your skin needs a lot of work then ask your doctor if he would offer you a prescription for a product that contains vitamin A.

You can of course buy some products containing retinol substitutes over the counter, these are only allowed to range up to a concentration of 1%. Normally the stronger the concentration, the stronger the treatment. The problem is a high concentration can cause the skin quite a lot of irritation and end up in a rash, so it is very important to carefully read the instructions.

The most important thing is to protect your skin from the sun. No matter how healthy you may think a sun tan is, it is actually very damaging to your skin. Your skin actually changes colour because it is already damaged. A suntan may appear to be healthy, but it certainly is not. Do not try to get a suntan at the expense of neglecting your skin.

Protect your skin using a high factor sunscreen all year round, use at least SPF 15. This will not only protect you from sun burns and damage which can cause skin cancer, but it should also stop your skin from aging prematurely and hold off the wrinkles.

The major cause of wrinkles is because your skin becomes too dry. If your skin becomes dry then small wrinkles can form and then gravity takes over and they just get bigger, more defined, and deeper, it is therefore important to ensure you keep your skin is well moisturised.

How to start carier in modelling ?

Asked Anonymously in Beauty & Fashion at   8:07 PM on April 01, 2009

Senthilkumar's Answer

Hi,

Breaking into the modeling industry often is very hard, especially if you don’t have a ton of money or a lot of connections. It seems like there’s more people trying to scam aspiring models than there are people trying to help them. Shady managers, dirty
photographers and poor advice is about as common as a Starbucks in New York City. However, modeling can be a very lucrative job with many benefits. Free clothing, travel and cash are just a few. And the good thing about our ever-changing society, is that now there’s a demand for models of all ages, shapes and sizes. This makes the industry a lot easier to get into since not all of us are six-foot-tall blondes!

So if you think you may have what it takes to survive in “the industry” here’s a few easy things you can do to get started:

1. You need a portfolio a.s.a.p. There’s thousands of companies in the phone book and on the internet that will tell you to purchase a “professional portfolio” from them. This is totally not necessary, unless you have a few hundred (or more) dollars to throw away. Instead find a local photographer who is willing to do a “TFP” shoot. TFP stand for Time For Prints. This means that both you and the photographer benefit from the shoot. You get your picture taken for free and the photographer get to use your pictures without paying you for your time. Big name photographers will not go for this but I promise any college level photography student will jump at the opportunity. Most of the time they have to find people to photograph. Check listings on Craigslist.com or campus postings. You could even contact a college teacher and relay the message to them. Just be careful, safety first! Try and set up the shoot for a public place, during the day. Invite a friend or parent to tag along.

2. Now that you have your pics you will want to assemble them in a scrapbook/photo album. Don’t make this fancy at all. You don’t want to distract from the actual photos. Include a page with your stats – measurement, phone number and email, etc.

Hi,

Its undeniable - women's bodies are different from men's. Women gain, store, and burn fat in very different ways, and, since they naturally have less muscle than men, women find it harder to keep their fat under control. So why is that so many women hit the gym and perform the same routines as men?

WORKOUTS FOR WOMEN (Hatherleigh Press, $16.95) by Joni Hyde introduces a program just for women. Hyde explains Circuit Training, one of the most versatile methods of exercising, in which the athlete moves from one exercise to the next in quick progression.

WORKOUTS FOR WOMEN is about more than just the body. In addition to detailed descriptions of exercises and valuable nutrition strategies, Joni Hyde offers eight tips to keep women motivated and engaged in their exercise routines.

* Build on your small successes. Start with small goals. Revel in the small accomplishments. They add up to great things.
* Be realistic about your goals. It doesn't take a few weeks to get flabby or become overweight, so don't expect to see results over night.
* Track your progress. Take your measurements so you'll be able to evaluate how your body is changing. Take a photo of yourself now so you'll have visual validation of the changes in your body over time.
* Focus on why you are doing this. Exercise is an investment in your self. Don't focus on what you are giving up to become fit, focus on what you are gaining.
* Use the power of visualization daily. Visualize yourself completing a great work-out and focus on how great you'll feel knowing you got the job done. Visualize yourself reaching your goals.
* Know your limits and give your body adequate fuel. Fatigue, insomnia, irritability, and an elevated resting heart rate are signs of overdoing it or not getting proper nutrition!
* Reward yourself when you obtain your goals.
* Keep a workout log and a food journal. Track your progress by taking your measurements every 6 to 8 weeks.

WORKOUTS FOR WOMEN, written with the distinction between men and women in mind, is an essential addition to any fitness-conscious woman's bookshelf.
