Seema's Answer

Well,If you are like me, you don't have a large pocketbook to go and purchase all of the popular and expensive hair treatments to make your hair shiny or softer. So I have a list below of classic household items that can be used on your hair and what they can do for you.

Olive Oil - I have discussed this before so I will only touch on it briefly. This is like a hot oil treatment from a salon. Heat the oil in a microwave for 45 seconds. And then slowly apply to your head using a rag or a cotton ball. Leave on your hair at least 30 minutes if
not a few hours than wash. This will help with shine and giving some added moisture to your hair. You can also mix a half a cup of honey into the olive oil and this will actually help lighten the hair without drying it out.

Mayonnaise - This one is a smelly option however you can run this through your hair for added moisture and it will make your hair very shiny and soft.

Beer - If you ever have a beer left in your fridge use it on your hair. Take the beer into the shower with you and pour it all over your hair, let it sit for five minutes than wash like normal. This works like a cleanser and with clean all the buildup that you get from styling products. This also creates shine.
Tomatoes - Due to the acid in tomatoes they will also help clean up buildup like expensive tea tree shampoos. It also creates wonderful shine. Always good to use fresh tomatoes not canned. Just blend and let sit in your hair for 15 - 30 minutes. However due to the acid just like lemons it can tend to lighten your hair as well. Chamomile tea also works in the same manner, just brew and pour over your hair.

Bananas and Avocados - These are great for split ends. If you have avocadoes that have not been eaten or bananas that are brown mush the up and rub them on your split ends or all over your hair. Both of these fruits have natural fats that are great for dry or over stylized hair.

How to improve our butt size?

Asked Anonymously in Beauty & Fashion at   1:59 PM on April 19, 2009

Seema's Answer

Your weight has not much to do with the fat you may be carrying. In fact, many "skinny" people have a high percentage of body fat. You see, fat weighs much less than muscle tissue so you can be skinny fat. I still think that your hips are the result of fat deposits rather than big muscles. Everyone has areas that are more likely to store fat on their bodies and yours may be the hip area. Unless, of course, you have some kind of malformation of the hip joint (not muscle). You mentioned earlier that your brother has the same condition so it may indeed be the case that your problem is a genetic hip malformation. I am not a doctor so this is just pure speculation but I definitely doubt that big muscles are the culprit. Try doing intense cardio 4-5 times per week (30 or more minutes per session) and see if you see improvement.

Infection Control Supplies - Protecting People From Invisible Enemies?

Asked by vineeta in Beauty & Fashion at   1:23 PM on February 25, 2009

Seema's Answer

Almost overnight, everyone began carrying little bottles hand sanitizer. Hospitals instituted greater infection control procedures, including having this sanitizer available in every hallway, more frequent use of gloves and masks, and sealed ER rooms for respiratory and other contagious airborne issues. Non-drying antibacterial and antimicrobial hand soaps became available for doctors to use between patients.

It was very similar to the way, in the mid-1980s, that dental and medical practitioners began putting HIV prevention methods in place. Latex gloves became the norm. Red plastic boxes for biohazard and needle disposal were found in every doctor's office, dentist and acupuncture clinic in North America. Special solvents and bleaches were developed to clean spilled blood.

In neo-natal units across the country, equipment is covered in plastic and other infection control supplies. Visitors are issued with sterile disposable clothing, masks and gloves. Personnel are in sanitary scrubs. The most vulnerable, tiny babies are protected from as much bacteria as science and industry has made possible.

As more is learned about disease and how it is spread, further precautions will be taken by those in the medical industry. Staying ahead on this curve will give any practice peace of mind knowing that their staff and patients are protected.

Hey,plz tell me the natural way to become straight my hair for long time?

Asked Anonymously in Beauty & Fashion at   2:55 PM on April 19, 2009

Seema's Answer

well it all depends on the type of hair you have. If it is mostly curly and /or wavy then blow-drying it and ironing it should be enough, if you have what some call "bad hair"/nappy hair then I don't know any natural things you can use to make it straight, there are natural products that makes it more manageable and with soft curls. check out these websites.

How a CT Scan Can Help Injury Victims?

Asked by vineeta in Beauty & Fashion at   1:23 PM on February 25, 2009

Seema's Answer

Once the initial shock is over, it is time to get the extent of the injuries checked out via a CT scan. In order to understand what getting a CT scan means, it is important to understand the basic idea behind x-ray technology. Obviously, a doctor cannot look at a person's bones just on site. Rather, the doctor needs the patient to get an x-ray.

The same thing goes for a CT scan, which is a more advanced form of x-ray technology. While an x-ray can see the bones, a CT scan can see the bones and the tissue in a far more detailed manner. This can be of help to a car accident injury victims, because head traumas can result in brain damage or clots, which this kind of scan can detect.

Basically, what will happen is that the patient will be positioned on an examination table, which will then be moved back until it is directly under the scanner. The patient will have to remain very still, even holding his or her breath each time the scanner passes through. The result will be a three-dimensional view that will help the patient be properly treated.

Walk-In Clinics - The Doctor is Out ?

Asked by vineeta in Beauty & Fashion at   1:22 PM on February 25, 2009

Seema's Answer

megastores, major shopping malls, and drugstores. CVS, Walgreens, Target, and Wall-Mart are in the business. At the end of 2007, there were 921 walk-in health clinics nationwide as compared to just 129 the year before. So the growth has been nothing short of phenominal; sort of like Starbucks. Within the next five years, the number is expected to exceed 3,000.

The search for cheaper, faster, and more accessible health care is fueling this trend. Timely and affordable health care is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain as doctors continue to migrate into the specialties. The reason for this is simple. They pay better.

Some doctors are fighting back. Dr Jim King, president of the American Academy of Family Physicians has developed a program that allows patients with minor problems, the kind that could be treated at a walk-in clinic, to see a doctor within 45 minutes of coming in. There are a number of practices attempting to become more patient centered than has been their customary routine, but to date, they are still very few and far between.

So meanwhile, if you have a cold, sinus problem or a bug of some kind that isn't likely to get serious, a walk-in clinic may provide a solution. But before you go running off to the nearest Target, be aware of the possible drawbacks.

Walk-ins -- What Are They?

The Mayo Clinic defines a walk-in clinic as a clinic that treats certain common conditions. They are often staffed by licensed nurse practioners who are specially trained to work in these clinics and can write a prescription for you if necessary. Most walk-in clinics treat conditions such as:

- Sinus infections or upper respiratory infections
- Bladder infections
- Strep throat
- Pink eye or styes
- Minor injuries
- Skin conditions such as warts or eczema

Some clinics also provide flu or tetanus shots, pregnancy tests, and routine physicals. They are not a substitute for regular visits to your doctor and you should keep your doctor informed of any treatment you have received at a walk-in clinic.

Mixed Reviews by Consumers

The Deloitte Center for Health Solutions recently conducted a survey that found 34% of consumers inclined to use a walk-in clinic, with 16% saying they already have. Walk-in clinics are cheaper, more convenient, with many of them keeping late hours. And many insurance companies are now covering visits to these clinics, with much lower co-pays than for a doctor's visit. According to Dr Ezekiel Emanuel, head of the Bioethics Department at the National Institutes of Health, walk-in clinics are good for "short, simple stuff." They are not about complicated health problems.

HBOT Makes HEADlines ?

Asked by vineeta in Beauty & Fashion at   1:21 PM on February 25, 2009

Seema's Answer

Head injury can also be a depressed skull fracture. A depressed skull fracture is common after forceful impacts by blunt objects-most commonly, hammers, rocks and other heavy but fairly small objects. This type of injury can cause dents in the skull bone and may be fatal and require surgery.

Then there is the basilar skull fracture. A head injury that is a fracture of the bones that form the base of the skull. It is a result of a severe blunt head trauma of significant force. This injury may cause infection as the fracture allows air or fluid inside to enter the skull. Surgery may or not be necessary unless other injuries are involved.

These are just the types of head injuries, but there is only one type of modern alternative medicine that can help cure it. It is hyperbaric oxygen treatment. Hyperbaric oxygen treatment is an FDA approved treatment and already being used by over 400 facilities in the U.S.

The treatment uses 100% oxygen through a hypebaric chamber that pressurizes the oxygen 2 to 3 times more than the atmosphere. It is a safe, non-toxic, treatment and is also available for sale and for rent. It also easy to operate that having a hyperbaric chambers at your own house is very much advisable.

The Use of Iodine in Wound Care?

Asked by vineeta in Beauty & Fashion at   1:21 PM on February 25, 2009

Seema's Answer

Cadexomer iodine is a slow release antimicrobial which has the capability to absorb excess wound exudate while maintaining a sustained level of iodine in the wound bed. Cadexomer iodine is available both as a dressing and as an ointment. In studies it has been shown to be effective in reducing counts of MRSA (methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It is estimated that 1 gram of Cadexomer iodine can absorb as much as 7 ml of fluid. The iodine is slowly released as the iodine is absorbed, which helps to reduce the bacterial load while simultaneously debriding the wound. It requires moisture to be activated. Unlike povidone iodine dressings which release iodine immediately upon application, the sustained release of iodine from cadexomer iodine dressings does not cause cytotoxic effects.

Potential Contraindications

Studies have shown that cadexomer iodine is effective in healing chronic ulcers; however, one of the serious potential side effects of using iodine for the treatment of wounds is that there is the potential for the absorption of iodine. For this reason, thyroid function should be monitored in patients who use this therapy for extended periods of time. In addition, iodine can interact negatively with lithium, and should be used with caution in patients who are on lithium concurrently. Iodine should not be used at the same time as mercurial antiseptics, such as mercurochrome.

Given the growing concern over the rise of antibiotic-resistant organisms, cadexomer iodine is an effective alternative for the treatment of chronic wounds. Reports of resistance to iodine are scarce, despite the fact that iodine has been in use for over 150 years. Cadexomer iodine can be safely used on most patients (providing they are not sensitive to iodine itself) and provides good coverage of bacteria, mycobacterium, fungi, and protozoa, as well as being effective against MRSA.

Long-Term Care Insurance - Helps To Supplement Retirement Savings?

Asked by karn singh in Personal Finance & Tax at   3:22 PM on February 20, 2009

Seema's Answer

Many retirees and workers nearing retirement have counted on retirement savings to effectively self insure against health-care expenses that are not covered by Medicare, such as at-home care, assisted-living and nursing home facilities.

With the collapse of the stock market, the once healthy nest eggs have left baby boomers and many retirees unable to pay for long-term care costs. It may take years to recoup the losses to their stock portfolio. The average cost for a year's stay in a nursing home is $77,000.00. Older investors may now be short of funds for costly long-term medical care if their health fails.

This is a good time to take a first or second look at long-term care insurance. When looking into long-term care insurance, it is important to consult with a long-term care specialist. An independent agent who represents the top carriers will show no bias toward one company or another.

It important to purchase long-term care insurance when you are young and in reasonably good health. Most people are not aware of the health underwriting that goes along with applying for this insurance. This has to be part of your retirement planning. This is insurance that will not be utilized for 20-30 years from the time you first purchased it.

There are many factors that need to be considered before applying for long-term care insurance. In most cases, if you are in reasonable good health you can expect to be approved for long-term care insurance. Some of the most common reasons why a person could be declined for long-term care insurance include health conditions such as: multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, AIDS, ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), Alzheimer's or dementia, muscular dystrophy and certain aggressive and metastatic cancers

A knowledgeable long-term care specialist will be honest in assessing your candidacy for long-term care insurance with regard to your individual health condition. He/she will know the differences between the carriers. What one carrier may allow, another carrier will automatically decline.

How to Carry Out a Head to Toe Survey of a Wounded Casualty?

Asked by vineeta in Beauty & Fashion at   1:22 PM on February 25, 2009

Seema's Answer

There is an ordered approach to this survey as with ABC's so it can be rapidly performed to minimize time at the scene. This is done region by region beginning at the head and proceeding through the neck, chest and abdomen to the upper and lower extremities. It is important not to miss anything when treating a casualty.

To ensure that you absorb all the information available, irrespective of your internal turmoil and near panic, it is important that you approach the incident in a confident and methodical way.

Assessment of the head (remember to have on disposable gloves to protect yourself at all times!)

Look for - 1- Lacerations
2 - Bruising
3 - Blood or cerebrospinal fluid (straw coloured) from ears or nose (this suggests a basal skull fracture)
4 - Check that pupils are of equal size and are reacting to light
5 - Bruising around eyes and behind ears (known as Raccoon eyes and Battles sign)
6 - Sweating
7 - Cyanosis (blue lips, earlobes with grey ashen face - indicating poor oxygen perfusion)

Feel for- 1 - Bleeding from scalp 2 - Depressed areas of the skull 3 - Facial tenderness and fractures

Listen for- 1 - Airway 'noise' suggesting obstruction 2 - Breathing depth and rate - average adult should be 16 - 20 per minute

Assessment of the Neck

Look and feel for- 1 - Lacerations and bruising 2 - Deviation of the windpipe 3 - Distension of the neck veins 4 - Check pulse rate and volume

Assessment of the Chest

Look for- 1 - Wounds and evidence of penetrating injury 2 - Deformity and abnormal movements 3 - Breathing distress and pain on breathing in

Feel for- 1 - Tenderness 2 - Instability and irregular movement - should be equal on both sides
