Cholesterol is a greasy substance made by the liver in our body and found in certain foods that we eat. It is needed to make vitamin D, certain hormones, bile salts that help to digest fat and build cell walls. Cholesterol is lipid in nature and there are two main types of cholesterol LDL or the bad cholseterol and HDL or the good cholseterol they are termed as thus because of the very different effect that they have on our body. Most of the cholesterol that we consume is LDL which is most likely to clog the arteries. Too much cholesterol in your body is likely to clog them and could cause seroius problems such as high blood pressure and heart disease.
