wat is difference between lcd and plasma monitor??

Asked by vishal anand in Computers & Technology at   1:36 PM on November 16, 2008

Dan Dan's Answer

The main difference between a plasma and LCD monitor is that plasma screens use plasma gas to generate an image and LCD's use liquid crystals. Plasma screens have a much longer response rate which will leave "screen burn" or a persisting image after the image is gone. LCD's have a much quicker response time that is best for fast paced games. Both monitors use the same imput and are capable of high definition images. LCD's usually have higher contrast ratios which yields much sharper images although their maximum size is less than that of a plasma monitor.

How do I remove a device from the library?

Asked by prasanna in Computers & Technology at   9:29 AM on November 12, 2008

Dan Dan's Answer

streamci.dll - Here is the scoop on Streaming Device Class Installer Library as it pertains to computer network security. The big question: what is streamci.dll and is it spyware, a trojan and if so, how do I get rid of Streaming Device Class Installer Library?
streamci.dll (Streaming Device Class Installer Library) - Details

Streamci.dll is required by windows and is used when working with media streaming devices, such as a DVD player or CD rom. If streamci.dll is unavailable, windows will not function correctly.

streamci.dll is flagged as a system process and does not appear to be a security risk. However, removing Streaming Device Class Installer Library may adversly impact your system.

The Process Server database currently registers streamci.dll to Microsoft.

This is part of Microsoft Windows.

Why are the same files converted every time I sync?

Asked by prasanna in Computers & Technology at   9:31 AM on November 12, 2008

Dan Dan's Answer

This can occur if you sync large files and the folder for storing the converted files runs out of space. Typically, the folder stores converted files so that the next time you sync, it isn't necessary to convert the files again. However, the converted files may be deleted if the folder runs out of disk space. To prevent this from occurring, you can increase the size of the temporary storage folder.
1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Devices tab.
2.Click Advanced.
3. In Amount of disk space to use, increase the amount of disk space.

How do relational databases use indexes?

Asked by Monica in Computers & Technology at   2:40 PM on November 11, 2008

Dan Dan's Answer

The tools that the relational database has for solving your query are the indices that have been set up on the tables. The index is the relational database’s way of presorting the data into multiple perspectives at the same time. This is done by maintaining the details on the fields in the index and maintaining pointers where the actual data is stored

With the exception of a clustered index, every index comes with a disk storage cost. Clustered indexes are essentially free from a disk read and disk space costs because the clustered index is really the order that the data is stored into the table.

When using an index, the database engine must perform two data reads for every record that is desired out of the database. The first read is into the index to locate the pointer to the actual record. The second is to read the location specified by the pointer. This is a cost consideration that the database server will take into account as it tries to solve your query. It’s also the primary reason why the query analyzer will choose not to use an index. In a later section, Covering Indices, you’ll learn a technique that can eliminate the need for the double read—however, in most cases using an index means doing nearly double the number of reads per record.

What are the three uses of multimedia presentations?

Asked by Monica in Computers & Technology at   2:40 PM on November 11, 2008

Dan Dan's Answer

More and more schools are adopting textbooks that include multimedia presentations. However, these textbooks are not accessible to students who are blind or visually impaired. To determine the current use of technology in accessing multimedia formats, in the spring of 2000 the AFB Textbooks and Instructional Materials Solutions Forum conducted a national survey of teachers who instruct students with visual impairments. We were interested in determining the access challenges these teachers face and solutions they are using in the classroom.

The AFB Solutions Forum is a collaborative national effort on the part of textbook publishers; access technology specialists; producers of braille, large print, and audio; parents; educators; and consumers. The AFB Solutions Forum is a project of AFB's National Education Programs.

A wide array of technology currently is used in America's public schools. For students with a perceptual impairment, the range of technology is often increased by the need for alternate information media and the ability to present and access these alternate media. For students with visual impairments, the provision and access of information through braille, large print, and speech can involve many different pieces of technology.

A total of 410 teachers from 44 states and four provinces responded to the survey, which produced the following significant findings.
Demographic features of respondents
93.1% were teacher of students with visual impairments (TVIs)
57.2% were AER members
79.7% were itinerant teachers
15.1% worked in Local Education Authorities (LEAs)
4.9% worked in special schools for the blind
30% of TVIs were the only TVI in their LEA
