What is the actual meaning of courage?

Asked by Manisha .. in Self Development at   8:38 PM on November 22, 2008

Lucy **'s Answer

I would say overcoming fear with the intent of doing what is right. For example, it is upholding what we believe to be morally right, regardless of the fear we have of the possible consequences. It is reckless when the fear we overcome, has nothing to do with our ideals of morality.

Is everything in life a contradiction?

Asked by Manisha .. in Self Development at   8:37 PM on November 22, 2008

Lucy **'s Answer

In logic, a contradiction consists of a logical incompatibility between two (or more) propositions.Every thing that occurs in life has positive (light, pleasure)and negative (darkness, pain) aspects and possibilities. What happens to us is not important. How we respond to it, considering both the positive and negative possibilities, to the best of our ability is important.
Every difficulty in life is a challenge to prove
what we are, and an opportunity to re-assure our self
confidence in what we can.

What are goal&how to set them?

Asked by %7Eshashank%7E in Self Development at   8:51 AM on November 21, 2008

Lucy **'s Answer

Goal is your ambition or reaching the destination point in ur life.Knowing our goals makes it much more likely we will attain them. After all, if we don't know what we want, how can we attain it? Experts tell us that those who set goals do so much better than those who don't. Yet many of us become confused when asked to state our goals. Our minds go blank. And all this talk of goal setting and goal getting just seems so tedious. Goals don’t necessarily have to be big ones. When you set your goal too high, you might find it too overwhelming and time consuming and just give up, or make another one, just as big. It’s akin to quitting cold turkey – there are setbacks.

What is destiny? Is destiny & fate the same?

Asked by Lakshmi s in Self Development at   11:26 AM on November 21, 2008

Lucy **'s Answer

Destiny is what we are here on earth to achieve. It is the Sacred Inner Star that guides us; our aspirations; our need to "go" somewhere and make our mark on the world
If we all seriously went about fulfilling our Destiny there would be no need for Fate, for our Star is the Magical Gift of our moment in time which is personal to us alone, and belongs to every single person on this planet.
The problem we are faced with, of course, is what exactly is our Destiny, and how do we go about fulfilling it? And that is where Fate has a significant part to play, for most of us have little memory of what we have committed to do, and are so caught up in the material world that we lose sight of our own unique qualities and potential.Pramod Mahajan was destined to become Indian Prime Minister one day but fate willed otherwise’. This has been the common statement by many in India in recent times. In reality this is what happens in the case of most of us. We are all destined to become someone somewhere but end up as someone else somewhere else. Life is nothing but an interplay of destiny and fate in a real environment of opportunities and impediments. Thanks to the accumulated karma from our foregone lives and the spill over of extra-ordinary karma from those of our parents, all of us are born with pre-determined destinies in each life. But only a miniscule number among us live up to these ‘blueprints of life’ in toto, while most others deviate from it due to reasons known and unknown. To put it briefly, it is not only enough to be born with a good destiny to become a good man but it is also necessary to model a fate that would help us to achieve it. It is entirely logical to assume that while destiny is beyond our control, fate is something that is willed by us. We are given a powerful tool to control the overall results of our life and it is upto each individual to use it the way he or she wants.

How can we be conscious?

Asked by Manisha .. in Self Development at   8:07 PM on November 22, 2008

Lucy **'s Answer

The only way to be conscious is to be staying conscientiously conscious.
The five senses we are endowed with keep feeding our minds with sensations of the circumstances around us. Our brain and minds interprets the sensations to suit their convenience. This is not being conscious.
Mind is too unreliable an interpreter. Mind tends to be selective. A true picture will not emerge with the mind working on perception.
To be conscious we must involve our intellect in the interpretation process. With the adoption of intellect as the force behind all perception we can be truly conscious.
