How to collect sports autographs?

Asked by suresh in Cricket & Other Sports at   4:52 PM on February 26, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

Make a list of six to 10 autographs you'd like to have in order to start your collection. After each athlete's name, jot down what you most admire about them as a person or as an athlete, how long you have been following their career and their latest individual honor or team win.

As you can imagine, celebrity sports figures receive tons of fan letters a year; the ones that get answered are those that stand out from the rest and demonstrate that the sender is genuine and knows what he is talking about.

How do insurance companies define sports cars?

Asked by suresh in Cricket & Other Sports at   4:45 PM on February 26, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

I think it all depends on the company. For instance Sachin's Ferrari can be counted as sports car but birdie-6 which has 2 doors but has 4 doors cannot be counted as sports car.

I asked my insurance agent this very question. It depends how on the replacement cost of the auto and location.

They usually go by horsepower, stock and aftermarket modifications (i.e. turbo or superchargers), etc. They will usually know if you have a sportscar or not. You can also have a car classified as rare or collectible that you think might be a sportscar.

A key point here is TWO DOORS. If a car has two doors its almost always classified as a sports car no matter what. Also if the car is equipped with a manual transmission its also most likely a sports car.

What makes a great sports bar?

Asked by suresh in Cricket & Other Sports at   4:41 PM on February 26, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

The problem in India is sports bar are relatively less because many sports enthusiast are not able to understand that watching sports in a sports bar means lots of people and more the noise where people can enjoy sports with friends and beers.

Anyway for a great sports bar it should have a TV set ups its crucial for a sports bar. Next is management of tv’s. If a location has it set up where you can see three to four of them pretty well where those sets have different games, you have a good place.

Also, if you have to tell an establishment to change a channel from a syndicated rerun or CNN to an actual game, they are awful. They should be the experts, not the paying customer.

How to coach youth sports?

Asked by suresh in Cricket & Other Sports at   4:32 PM on February 26, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

We the Indians are a sports-oriented society and it's only natural that children will get interested in the same sports their parents love to watch. Whether it's cricket, football, basketball, swimming, hockey or any other, many kids enjoy organized sports.

A coach has a huge responsibility to make sure that this experience is a positive one. Introducing young athletes to the concept of winning at all costs, getting in their face after mistakes or allowing such behavior from well-meaning but ignorant parents can ruin the experience.

Make this a positive, friendly experience from the start. At your first practice, introduce yourself and your co-coaches. Then go around the team and have everybody tell who they are, say what their favorite team is and also their favorite food. This is a quick way to break the tension and for everybody to learn a little something about each other.

Is fishing a dangerous sports? ?

Asked by suresh in Cricket & Other Sports at   4:36 PM on February 26, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

Not necessarily. There are few things that can be avoided.

Inclement weather (i.e. lightning) Never stay on the water when you hear thunder It may be helpful to carry a battery powered radio to check the weather

Do Not put your finger in a fish's mouth no matter the size for any reason. Even small fish have teeth. Use a pair of pliers to remove any hooks and if it is swallowed cut the line off as close as you can to its mouth

-BE Careful when handling catfish some have poisonous spines that can inflict a painfu sting

Hooks are EXTREMELY SHARP(for obvious reason) handle with care. Barbs on hooks can be flattened.

Those are your dangers when you're fishing. As for fishing being dangerous if follow common sense, you should be perfectly safe. I've fished for years and the only time I've been hurt are when I didn't pay attention to the obvious.

How to get involved in sports?

Asked by suresh in Cricket & Other Sports at   4:25 PM on February 26, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

Think about what sport you want to do. Think about it for a while. You want to choose a sport that you really enjoy and not a boring one to you. You don't want to quit the season early.

If it's the sport you want, then go to the tryouts. Make sure you do well enough so the coaches will accept you on the team. The better you do, the more you will have playing time for that particular sport.

Work out regularly when you are not practicing. Not just football but pretty much every sport requires excersise and/or bodybuilding. You still need to work out a lot because you still need to stay in shape for your sport.

How to prevent sports violence?

Asked by suresh in Cricket & Other Sports at   4:14 PM on February 26, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

Aggressive play in sports can result in injury but isn't considered violent because it is within the rules of the game. However, sports violence occurs on several levels and includes players, coaches and spectators, and happens well outside the rules.

Have players, parents and coaches sign a code of sportsmanship so everyone involved in the sport is responsible for preventing violence.

Define what the consequences are and ensure that everyone understands when the line from aggressive play to violence has been crossed. Parents and coaches need to be an example of good sportsmanship for young players.

Cricket has always been a gentleman's game but some times there have been incidents where violence was a part in team members and rivals while playing and also after play.

What kind of sports did the Aztecs play? ?

Asked by suresh in Cricket & Other Sports at   4:10 PM on February 26, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

Aztecs played a sport called Tachli that was a little like basketball and soccer. It had differences, for example, their "basketball hoop" was a vertically hung stone ring. Their "basketball" was a heavy solid rubber ball.

Aztecs believed Tachtli was the sport their gods played with the stars in the stadium of the heavens. Tachtli was replicated on earth in honor of the gods.

The winning team was allowed to take any possession from the spectators. The people of the audience would quickly escape before their clothes were taken away.
Worse than being in the audience, was being on the losing team. They were sacrificed. Aztec sports, like Tachtli, were made to honor and imitate Aztec gods.
