Do Jamaicans play sports? ?

Asked by suresh in Cricket & Other Sports at   6:35 PM on February 26, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

Although Jamacians don't participate in big tournament like Olympics and world cups which are being played in individual categories like Cricket football etc..

Typical of our culture, the sports played in Jamaica is also diverse. We play most of the sports of the Commonwealth, and of course those we acquired from our many peoples.

Despite this variety, I assure you - whether it is outdoor or indoor sports- there is no deeper passion anywhere else!

How to balance Honors courses and sports?

Asked by suresh in Cricket & Other Sports at   6:33 PM on February 26, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

Sometimes it can be tough to be good at everything. Excelling at both sports and schoolwork isn't as enviable a position to be in as most people would think. In fact, many students who've got both brains and brawn struggle to maintain balance--and avoid burnout.

Get support from your parents, friends, coaches and teachers. Tell them your goal to balance your honors courses and sports and ask them to help you stay on task and remember the big picture.

Studies are all important as well as much as sports.

How to Get a Job in Sports Public Relations?

Asked by suresh in Cricket & Other Sports at   6:26 PM on February 26, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

Sports PR is a highly demanding field that requires a lot of hours and generally low pay. However, it can be rewarding and a whole lot of fun once you break into the field, which is the hardest part of the whole deal.

Find your first paying job. If your internship experience does not land you your first full-time job and look for paid internships with college public relations departments. T

hese positions are exceedingly low-paying and only last one school year, but these positions will allow you to cover multiple sports and do the job full time. After a year or two of experience, you will be ready to land your first real paying position.

What are the major sports teams in Alabama?

Asked by suresh in Cricket & Other Sports at   6:23 PM on February 26, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

Football is king in Alabama, baseball comes in second. The two major teams are the Universities of Alabama and Auburn. We have no pro teams and pro sports take a back seat to college for the majority of sports fans in this state.

That does not include Nascar. The footbal rivalry in our state cannot be matched anywhere in the country. There are several smaller Universities here and for the most part even the people at those fine schools have a favorite team, either Alabama or Auburn.

There are many great books on sports life in the state of Alabama, check with library.com or bookstore.com for further info on this subject.

Make sure you know which sports that person likes. The person whom you are gifting sports gifts should be liking that sports or else it will be a waste. you can make cards in the basket which would have details of his/her favorite player in it, make sure you don't fake in those details.

Add some t-shirts in the basket sporty ones especially with the favorite team t-shirt.

How to prevent concussions in sports?

Asked by suresh in Cricket & Other Sports at   5:57 PM on February 26, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

The best way to avoid the potentially serious complications that come with sports-related concussions is to prevent them altogether.

While most concussions are suffered in contact sports such as cricket, football or hockey, steps should always be taken to protect your head no matter what your game of choice may be.

Purchase proper footwear for the athletic endeavor you're engaging in. A significant number of concussions are caused when a player slips and hits his head on the way down.
By wearing footwear designed for the activity you're engaging in, you mitigate the chances of having an accidental fall that may cause a head injury or neck injury.

Are video games better than sports? ?

Asked by suresh in Cricket & Other Sports at   6:07 PM on February 26, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

Well if you wanna be fit, well known and a star u should go with sports but if you hate sports play video games

On the other hand, you can be fit and still love video games. You can play sports *and* video games. Being well-known and a star does *not* necessarily come from playing sports and there are professional video game players now as well.

Video games are better than sports if you have asthma sometimes easier to breathe while you play. Some video games are educational, so you can learn something while playing. They are also much less brutal sometimes you aren't going to get as many bruises playing video games.

How to be a sports groupie? ?

Asked by suresh in Cricket & Other Sports at   6:02 PM on February 26, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

Know everything about your team. The casual fan may have a favorite player, but to be a sports groupie, you must know all there is to know about the sport. You should be able to spout off batting averages or average points per game for any player in the last 40 years.

Never miss a game. A casual fan will go to a game if she can find the time. To be a sports groupie, you have to plan your life around the games. Your family shouldn't expect you to be home for Diwali dinner; after all, there's a cricket game somewhere that you just can't miss.

Why is there a discrimination in sports?

Asked by suresh in Cricket & Other Sports at   6:11 PM on February 26, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

The question seems to be answering a question more than seeking an answer.

Is there discrimination in sports? There are some incredibly talented black athletes in basketball and football. They play the sport well and are paid well for their efforts. Should it be any different? If you are complaining because there do not seem to be enough whites, Hispanics or Asians, perhaps you should just recognize that maybe the blacks who make it into pro sports are motivated and talented. Is that discrimination?

The Williams sisters made it big in tennis. Is it because they are black or is it because they are good?

Explain where the discrimination is and perhaps it would be possible to discuss the individual issues, but a flat statement like the one you posted, is evidence of poor understanding about the way life is.
