What Hollywood movies were popular in the 1930's?. ?

Asked by Balbir Kaur in Movies at   6:17 PM on February 28, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

Here are some of the ultra famous films: Gone With the Wind, Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (the first feature-length animated film), The Grapes of Wrath.

Some films that were popular then but aren't as known now: Hell's Angels, Stagecoach, Tarzan the Ape Man, Boys Town, Captains Courageous.

Look for films from little Shirley Temple, W.C. Fields, Bob Hope, Bette Davis, Greta Garbo, Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Errol Flynn... and my all time favourite: The Marx Brothers!

How are 3D movies made? ?

Asked by ankit das in Movies at   6:14 PM on February 28, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

Since your eyes are about two inches apart, they see the same picture from slightly different angles. Your brain then correlates these two images in order to gauge distance. This is called binocular vision -- ViewMasters and binoculars mimic this process by presenting each eye with a slightly different image.

A 3D film viewed without glasses is a very strange sight, resembling that hokey cartoon effect of a drunkard's point of view. The same scene is projected simultaneously from two different angles in two different colors, red and blue (or green). Here's where those cool glasses come in -- the colored filters separate the two different images so each image only enters one eye. Your brain puts the two pictures back together, and voila, you're dodging a flying meteor!

What movies should I rent tonight?

Asked by ankit das in Movies at   6:04 PM on February 28, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

I just watched Andaz apna apna. It was actually a pretty decent movie, not the best movie ever but good. I'm a guy and it's definitely a chick flick but it was good enough that even I enjoyed it.

On the chick flick topic, I really like Just Like Heaven, with Reese Witherspoon. If you haven't seen that one since it came out a couple years ago, rent it.

Action-wise, I love S.W.A.T., with Colin Ferrell; it's just so shoot and action that it's very entertaining despite a slightly cheesy feel.

Comedy, Euro-trip is always funny, or accepted.

How to Make Stick Movies?

Asked by ankit das in Movies at   6:05 PM on February 28, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

Stick movies may serve with little artistic value, but can help any novice movie maker understand how to put together a small production. First, you have to decide how you want your artwork to appear. Do you want to do it digitally? Or do you want to draw out your stick motions? If you choose to draw out your stick movie frames, be sure to add all the details, from bubble text to scenes. Drawing them in Microsoft Paint may be an easier route, because you will not have to scan any images in. However, either way you decide is fine. Be sure to have all your frames in place ,so that when you begin production, you won't have to go back and draw any more frames.

How do 3-D movies work? ?

Asked by ankit das in Movies at   6:05 PM on February 28, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

3-D movies are shot with binocular cameras. 3-D movies have two slightly different images on the same screen, one from each of the cameras. Each image emits Polarized light at a different (perpendicular) angle. Each lens on your eye set only allows one angle of the polarized light to enter. Therefore each eye receives a different image. Your brain interprets the differing images to each eye as depth in the visual field. If you tilt your head to one side with the glasses on, you will see that polarized light no longer lines up with the filter on the glasses and you will lose the depth perception.

True or False? Ghajini, a violent film.?

Asked by Santrupt in Movies at   7:45 PM on February 27, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

Yes its true Ghajini is a violent film as the movie has its way of dealing with bad guys in a strange way that is as the hero of the film always forgets his memory and has a lot of problem remembering things.
Most of all the part where he smashes all his enemies with fatal brutality without guns and ammo is very violent as young generation can easily be influential and do the same with their said enemies.

How to make cartoon movies?

Asked by ankit das in Movies at   7:25 PM on February 27, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

Get a small notebook. The smaller the better. If the pages are too big, it's harder to flip through them smoothly.

Character 2 Draw a cartoon character or object. The drawing doesn't have to be fancy or in too much detail for your movie to work. A simple outline will be fine.

Plan a motion. Figure out what you want the character or object to do. A character could be walking or jumping. An object such as a car could be moving from left to right, for example.

Hold the notebook on one hand and use the other to flip the pages from front to back using your thumb. The images you have drawn will come to life, moving fluidly from the first to last positions. Now you can dazzle your friends with your very own cartoon movie.
