How to display sports medal?

Asked by suresh in Cricket & Other Sports at   12:59 PM on February 26, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

Sports medals can be displayed in a case or they can be framed and placed on a wall. Displaying your sports medals is the best way to show off your accomplishments while protecting the medals at the same time.

Sports medal displays can be purchased fully assembled or you can construct one yourself.
Purchase a picture frame that's large enough to display your sports medals. You can choose to buy a frame that's already stained or you can stain it yourself.

Attach the picture frame to the wall using nails or picture frame wire. The picture frame should hang at eye level so those viewing your medals will be able to see them clearly.

What sports can I play in Winter? I am a bit overweight and 9-5 job profile.?

Asked by suresh in Cricket & Other Sports at   6:55 PM on February 25, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

Given that you have described yourself as "very overweight", make sure you check with your doctor before you start any regular exercise. Probably your doctor's recommendation will be to start doing something active rather than jumping right into something with a large cardio component.

That said, bowling (especially league bowling) and/or curling might be good sports to get into. Each of these sports has a relatively low threshold of physical requirements, but will get you moving and exercising amongst other people.

I recommend league bowling in particular because you may find yourself motivated by the team aspect of the sport. If you have not bowled before, your local bowling centre should be able to hook you up with an instructor for a couple of one-on-one lessons so you know what you need to be doing. Bowling is a sport you can start at any age.

How many sports does United States have?

Asked by suresh in Cricket & Other Sports at   6:48 PM on February 25, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

USA has many number of sports not only USA but India too if we count non professenal sports that is...
Anyway the question is about USA's number of sports, Since you don't say "professional", I can only give an estimate.
List all the Sports/games that can be played that requires a ball Any kind of a ball.

Now taking into consideration that there are three and four ways to play certain games that would add up to quite a total more than 100.
Other Examples: Ice Hockey, Roller skate Hockey, Field Hockey...

There's 'billiards' and then there's 'pool' and then there's 'Snooker', and then there's 'bumper pool'.
So you see it's endless. If I had to put a number down... I wouldn't be surprised if there would be at least 300.

Good question. Until you brought it up, I never gave it a thought.

How do you become a professional sports coach?

Asked by suresh in Cricket & Other Sports at   6:53 PM on February 25, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

Well you should probably start out at a lower level. Maybe some kids leagues to get an idea for coaching. Then you just need to work your way up. Maybe become an assistant at a high school.

If you are good at that and stay long enough, you may get a job as head high school coach. It's the same thing at every level, do good-work your way up.

Eventually you may get into some small college, but you can work you're way up to an elite college, and from there to the MCA (Mumbai cricket association or your local city association) if you want.

Coaching is just like a big step ladder, you just need to work you're way up and not fall off.

I want to be a bowler.how can i join mrf foundation?

Asked Anonymously in Cricket & Other Sports at   6:16 PM on February 25, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

Accordingly you will need to prepare with the local club around your area where you live. Join that club and then butter your coach a little by complimenting him on small actions of his but make sure you do that in front of everyone if you do it in alone he will think you are buttering him.

then keep reminding him about the competitions and how are they made ask him questions about the tournaments so that he will know you are interested in them. Hence at the time of selection he will remember your name first rather than chosen some other boy he will recommend your name first.

Keep a track on your coach of his where a bouts like where is he when in times of trouble like city havoc or some big havoc in city by goons just ask him he was away at that time from that location or not. Unless and until your coach doesn't recommend you in some league you cannot go in any foundations.

How to sell sports memorabilia? I have many items which I have won through contests.?

Asked by suresh in Cricket & Other Sports at   6:38 PM on February 25, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

Selling sports memorabilia is a multi million Ebay sites or other Indian sites. With advancements in the Internet, it’s now possible to easily sell memorabilia without leaving your house. The Internet has also removed the need to pay to get an audience for your sports memorabilia, as it doesn’t cost anything to get people interested in what you are trying to sell.

Decide what you are going to sell. Perhaps you’ll want to keep some of your sports memorabilia. If that’s the case, separate those items from the items you wish to sell.

Determine the value of each piece of sports memorabilia you plan to sell. Using a Beckett price guide is the easiest way to do so. Alternatively, you can usually get an estimate at a local sports memorabilia shop.

Take a clear digital picture of each of your items that shows all detail. If the item is large, take multiple pictures.

Open an eBay account and proceed to put your items up for auction. Set the reserve price so that you are guaranteed to receive fair market value for your piece of sports memorabilia. Be sure to give a full description and a link to the picture of the item.

Hope that helps.

How to organise sports tournament?

Asked by suresh in Cricket & Other Sports at   6:24 PM on February 25, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

No matter the sport, a local tournament of any size can be a lot of fun, raise money for your organization and provide the chance to attract people from outside the area for some fresh competition. Whether for youth or adult sports, a successful tournament takes some dedication, but organizing can be just as much fun as participating in the event.

Get volunteers and organize a committee. No matter the size of the tournament, you need help getting things done. Make a schedule of items to be done. Work backwards from the tournament date. For instance, the week before the tournament you will have checklist items such as picking up awards or medals, posters, scoresheets and scoreboards, or timing clocks, if needed.

Decide on the number of teams, brackets or divisions. Secure the venue you need. If it is a local basketball tournament, for instance, get gym facilities from local school boards, colleges or community centers.

Communicate with the teams attending your event. You will want to make sure they have information about local hotels, the draws or brackets and locations of games well in advance.

How to make your own sports drink? Branded drinks are quite expensive.?

Asked by suresh in Cricket & Other Sports at   6:33 PM on February 25, 2009

Jateen Gutta's Answer

Although sports drinks play an important role in preventing dehydration and maintaining good exercise performance, they can be expensive, particularly if you drink them daily.

One solution is to make your own sports drink at home. Sports drink recipes are quick and easy to prepare since the ingredients are simple and readily available.

1. A bottle designed to hold 20 ounces of fluid
2. Filtered water
3. Salt
4. Sugar
5. Flavoring of your choice

To prepare your sports drink, mix eight teaspoons of sugar with a half teaspoon of salt. Add to sixteen ounces of cold water. Mix all ingredients thoroughly.

Now it's time to add flavoring. Some options for flavoring your homemade sports drink include unsweetened Kool Aid or other drink powder, coffee syrups, or fruit juices. Simply add the appropriate amount to meet your taste. Orange, lemon, lime, and grapefruit juice make particularly tasty additives to your sports drink. Have fun trying different flavoring agents and unique flavor combination.
