Asked by ajay sharma in Pets at   6:01 AM on November 18, 2008

's Answer

dear ajay,
first of all I should say that you have brought very small puppy at your home . puppies should atleast 2 months old before removing them from mother feed .puppies removed earlier than that are not able to develop internal immune system and chances of surviving of them are only forty five percent so dear seriously telling your first priority should be to help it to develop internal immune system by giving supplements of vitamins and minerals at the same time you have to protect it from other canine infections do not allow it to leave your home premises .sweep flour of you house with bleaching powder and water as you can also bring canine parvo virus in your home with your shoes which is extremely fatal so dear first of all you should save your buddy and than think of its training .training in dogs can be started up to six month of age .

Asked by charu jain in Pets at   7:30 PM on November 17, 2008

's Answer

dear charu,
please specify you pet next time as it would be easy to solve the problem .the basic treatment for ticks is Bathe the dog once a week with Petmosol soap if the problem is severe if not so severe than once a month would be O.K Apply Ecktodex, one teaspoon in one liter water solution after bathing and avoid your pet to lick it self for 5-7 weeks give if there is serious problem give antibiotics like oxy tetracycline ,ofloxocine etc. if condition is serious they are given to control secondary infections dry up all humid places where your pet sits when at home as these places are like breeding heaven for ticks and fleas .

Give me some expert tips on puppy pets care & hair shedding problems?

Asked by geordi di in Pets at   3:45 PM on November 17, 2008

's Answer

dear geordi ,
first of all the shedding of hair is depended upon the type of breed you are keeping certainly Pomeranian, double coated German shepherd and many alike breeds needs brushing of hair with a soft brush daily first in opposite direction and than in right direction .secondly they will change there coat for atleast twice a year nothing can be done to avoid and this is done at the time of season the best possible thing you can do is a supplement of vitamin E can be added .thirdly hair falling can be due to bacterial and fungal infection in both case hair falling is there combined blood and pus and ring worm type patches in affected area ,can also be there and Reddening of skin with severe inflammation and lesions,The first site of infection will be around the ears, eyes and forelimbs,Continuous scratching and oozing of fresh blood can also be there fourthly this hair falling of hair also can due to Allergies and Eczema , there would be only reddening of skin on affected area without much hair loss ,Bee sting eruptions on the affected part .

Please give me some expert tips for training Pets

Asked by Simrit Ghai in Pets at   7:04 AM on November 17, 2008

's Answer

dear simrit ,
first of all I should say that if you are asking basic training techniques of training of animal which is domesticated you should always mention the species of your pet as the training techniques are different for all animals .as there are vast variety of the pets starting from white mice ,dog, cats ,fishes ,exotic birds to elephant, camel, horse etc. so dear next time you ask a question you should also specify the specie .the basic concept of the training in mammals is that they should able to differentiate between the voice of command.this is made possible by appreciation if they listen to command and light scolding is required if they behave weirdly.they should not be scold continuously as than they will not be able to differentiate between the scoldings and appreciation and neither the scolding should be to harsh as they can have shock syndrome .

How popular is pet’s health insurance in India? Expert views plz

Asked by Shipra Singh in Pets at   4:26 PM on November 17, 2008

's Answer

dear shipra,
although there are number of policies for dogs but dear there is certainly a hole in these policies as they only cover accidental death Companies do not cover medical costs incurred for the treatment secondarily most of these pet policies are dogs oriented and that to only for pedigreed dog as there are many species of animals and birds which are not allowed to keep as pet in India legally.and there is no insurance policy for cats in India as they have a higher mortality rate than dogs. Rabbits are covered but the exclusion clauses run into several paragraphs.and no aquatic species are covered .keeping in view all the facts it could be said that pet insurance in India is not so popular this also because of the fact that there is absence of marketing by insurers, prospective and existing customers are not aware of pet insurance policies .
