About Diwali Lakshmi Puja?

Asked by hitali shah in Puja & Rituals at   5:45 PM on October 17, 2008

heet churi's Answer

Lakshmi Puja on Diwali is an integral part of the Diwali celebrations. This day is also known by the name of 'Chopada-Puja'. Lakshmi-Puja is performed for the sole purpose of propitiating Goddess Lakshmi and to thank Her for the bestowal of her blessings on the humans. Lakshmi-Puja falls on the darkest night of Amavasya, though with the help of innumerable lamps and diyas this darkness is reduced to such an extent that it seems as if one is celebrating Diwali in broad daylight.

Lakshmi Puja on Diwali is a major part of the Diwali celebration in North and West India. According to the legend associated with Lakshmi Puja, there once occurred the churning of ocean by the demons and the deities in order to look for the 'amrit' or the 'drink of immortality'. On this day Goddess Lakshmi manifested herself from the ocean and since then Diwali began to be celebrated and Lakshmi Puja became an important part of the Diwali celebrations in order to commemorate the Goddess Lakshmi.

According to a common belief Goddess Lakshmi walks through the green fields as well as the bye-lanes in order to shower her blessings on the human race for peace, wealth and prosperity. Thus everyone is advised to open the doors and the windows of their homes on the eve of Lakshmi Puja.

Step by step procedure of Laxmi Pooja .
It is extremely important to keep the house spotlessly clean and pure on Diwali. Goddess Lakshmi likes cleanliness, and she will visit the cleanest house first. This is also the reason why the broom is worshipped on this day with offerings of haldi and kumkum (turmeric and vermilion).

Lamps are lit in the evening to welcome the goddess. They are believed to light up Her path.

Lakshmi Puja consists of a combined puja of five deities: Ganesha is worshipped at the beginning of every auspicious act as Vighnaharta; Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped in her three forms - Mahalakshmi (the goddess of wealth and money), Mahasaraswati (the goddess of books and learning), and Mahakali; Kuber (the treasurer of the gods) is also worshipped.

Spread a new cloth on a raised platform. Place a handful of grains in the centre and, on this, place a kalash (pitcher) made of gold, silver, copper, or terracotta. Fill three-fourth of the kalash with water and place a betel nut, a flower, a coin, and some rice grains in it. Arrange five kinds of leaves or mango leaves in the kalash .

Place a small dish on the kalash and fill it with rice grains. Draw a lotus with turmeric powder ( haldi ) over the rice grains and place the idol of goddess Lakshmi over it, along with coins.

In front of the kalash , on the right (South-West direction), place the idol of Ganesha. Also place ink and books related to your business or occupation on the platform.

Light a lamp and begin the puja by offering haldi, kumkum , and flowers to the platform on which the kalash is placed.

Then offer haldi, kumkum , and flowers to the water that is to be used for the puja . Invoke the river goddesses to be part of this water.

Sprinkle this water on all puja utensils to purify them.

Offer haldi, kumkum , and flowers to the kalash on which the idol of Lakshmi is placed.

Invoke goddess Lakshmi by reciting the Vedic mantras addressed to her. One can also recite the mantras mentioned in the Puranas or simply take some flowers in your hands, close your eyes, and think of goddess Lakshmi being showered with gold coins by two elephants standing on either side of Her and chant Her name. Then offer the flowers to the idol.

Place the idol of Lakshmi in a plate and bathe it with water, panchamrit (a mixture of milk, curds, ghee or clarified butter, honey, and sugar) and then with water containing some gold ornament or a pearl. Wipe the idol clean and place it back on the kalash . Alternately, you can just sprinkle water and panchamrit on the idol with a flower.

what is cpu working in the computer

Asked by rahul mergu in Computers & Technology at   5:30 PM on October 17, 2008

heet churi's Answer

CPU is the short name for Central Processing Unit, and is pronounced as separate letters. Next comes the short explanation of the CPU as a whole. It's is the brains of the computer. Sometimes it is also called the processor or central processor.

The CPU will likely be the larger of the chips on the mainboard inside your PC.

What does a CPU do, Part 1
If you bought a new computer, the CPU will be covered by a heatsink and fan. Keep in mind that the heatsink and fan are extremely important. If there are no such components the CPU would get too hot to work and possibly melt or burn out. And be very careful when you want to replace the fan if you need to have a look at your CPU.

What does a CPU do, Part 2
So, it is time to move on the performance of your CPU and the basic functions that it carries out.
As it was mentioned before, the CPU for the computer is similar to a human brain. It is artificial but the CPU is where all the logic is applied. Everything that goes on in your PC at some point goes through your CPU. If you cannot get the idea, here is a simple example which will probably help you get the point.

The computer code is basically mathematics. For example, imagine you want to do simple arithmatic. let's say you want to divide 12 into 2. What happens then? You will input 12/2 on the keyboard of your PC. The keyboard will then turn this information into a sequence of ones and zeros (the code, which the computer "reads").

After that this will be registered and then sent to the CPU for analysis. The CPU will see that the addition logic is required and use this inbuilt logic to send the answer of 6.

As the brain of your PC, the CPU allows you to operate software. And, of course, there is a connection between the power of the computer and the work of the CPU.

What does a CPU do, Part 3
The more powerful the CPU the more kinds of applications you will be able to run on your system.
Software packaging always tells you the minimum amount of processing power you'll need to use that program. If you don't have enough power in your CPU, the software will run slowly or improperly.

A top-of-the-line CPU will perform tasks more quickly than an older processor. The difference in speed can be astonishing, especially when doing jobs that require heavy number crunching.

If you are working with graphics and computer –assisted design you should know that a modern, powerful CPU is essential to manipulate the massive amounts of information found in complex and memory-intensive graphics.

What does a CPU do, Part 4
And now, let's say a few more things about the work of the CPU and its performance...After all, this is the goal of this tutorial, to give you enough useful information, which can help you.
The CPU's performance is determined in two areas: internal and external. The internal performance means the performance within the central processor. The chip's design (CISC or RISC), architecture (i.e., 486, Pentium or PowerPC), clock speed and memory caches all influence how quickly the CPU can perform tasks. And the external performance refers to the rest part of the system.

Have I answered the questions, What Does a CPU Do? I hope so. But here's more...

The amount of RAM, the capacity of the data bus and the motherboard circuitry all influence what any CPU, no matter how powerful, can accomplish.

If you have a system which is either old or too sophisticated, then the work of the processor will be inadequate. So, make sure your system is a good match for your processor.

There's little you can do to remove built-in roadblocks to CPU performance, but you can always add more RAM, especially if you have only four to eight megabytes.

Modern operating systems require at least 32 megabytes to provide good performance, and more megabytes is even better. Memory is ch

Key tips on avoiding virus infections in PC?

Asked by monty joshi in Computers & Technology at   10:31 AM on October 16, 2008

heet churi's Answer

Hi Monty good question again.

1. Install anti-virus software from a well-known, reputable company,
UPDATE it regularly, and USE it regularly. software has firewall or sidled must available. New viruses come out every single day; an Anti V program that hasn't been updated for several months will not provide much protection against current viruses. AVG8,AVR freeware anti virus has daily update futures.

2. In addition to scanning for viruses on a regular basis, install an 'on
access' scanner (included in most good a-v software packages) and configure
it to start automatically each time you boot your system. This will protect
your system by checking for viruses each time your computer accesses an
executable file.

3. Virus scan any new programs or other files that may contain executable
code before you run or open them, no matter where they come from. There
have been cases of commercially distributed floppy disks and CD-ROMs
spreading virus infections.

4. Anti-virus programs aren't very good at detecting Trojan horse
programs, so be extremely careful about opening binary files and Word/Excel
documents from unknown or 'dubious' sources. This includes posts in binary
newsgroups, downloads from web/ftp sites that aren't well-known or don't
have a good reputation, and executable files unexpectedly received as
attachments to E-mail or during an on-line chat session.

5. If your E-mail or news software has the ability to automatically execute
JavaScript, Word macros, or other executable code contained in or attached
to a message, I strongly recommend that you disable this feature.

6. Be _extremely_ careful about accepting programs or other files during
on-line chat sessions: this seems to be one of the more common means that
people wind up with virus or Trojan horse problems. And if any other family
members (especially younger ones) use the computer, make sure they know not
to accept any files while using chat.

7. Do regular backups. Some viruses and Trojan horse programs will erase or
corrupt files on your hard drive, and a recent backup may be the only way to
recover your data.

Ideally, you should back up your entire system on a regular basis. If this
isn't practical, at least backup files that you can't afford to lose or that
would be difficult to replace: documents, bookmark files, address books,
important E-mail, etc.

Trojan horse program?

Asked by monty joshi in Computers & Technology at   10:32 AM on October 16, 2008

heet churi's Answer

A program that appears to be legitimate but is designed to have destructive effects, as to data residing in the computer onto which the program was loaded.

Trojan horse programs cannot operate autonomously, in contrast to some other types of malware, like viruses or worms. Trojan horse programs depend on actions by the intended victims. As such, if Trojans replicate and distribute themselves, each new victim must run the Trojan.

In the field of computer architecture, 'Trojan Horse' can also refer to security loopholes that allow kernel code to access anything for which it is not authorized.

A type of program that is often confused with viruses is a 'Trojan horse'
program. This is not a virus, but simply a program (often harmful) that
pretends to be something else.

For example, you might download what you think is a new game; but when you
run it, it deletes files on your hard drive. Or the third time you start
the game, the program E-mails your saved passwords to another person.

Note: simply downloading a file to your computer won't activate a virus or
Trojan horse; you have to execute the code in the file to trigger it. This
could mean running a program file, or opening a Word/Excel document in a
program (such as Word or Excel) that can execute any macros in the document.
