Chethan Sharma of India is the only cricketer who has taken hattrick in the world cup ODI game. The match was aginst New Zealand which was held on 31st October 2987 at Vidharbha Cricket ground, Nagpur, India. New Zealanders batted first and scored 221 for nine in fifty overs. He took the wickets of Ken Rutherford, DS Smith and EJ Chatfield. At one stage, they were going very well, with 181 for four. Ravi Sasthri took the wicket of Patel, at that score. Then Chethan Sharma took the hattrick to reduce New Zealnd to 182 for 8. India replied with 224 for one, with Sunil Gavaskar scoring his only ODI century. India won the match by 9 wickets with 107 balls remaining. Saqulin Mushtaq of Pakistan, Chaminda Vass of Sri Lanka, Brett Lee of Australia, and Lasith Malinga of Sri Lanka are the other players who have taken hattrick in the world cup ODI games.
