my child is crushing his teeth at night though he is healthy any home remedy for it

Asked by rajesh goyl in Personal Health at   9:04 AM on April 29, 2008

DesiGuru's Answer

Bruxism is the medical term for the grinding of teeth or the clenching of jaws, especially during deep sleep or while under stress. It comes from the Greek word "brychein," which means to gnash the teeth. Three out of every 10 kids will grind or clench, experts say, with the highest incidence in children under 5.Though studies have been done, no one knows why bruxism happens. But in some cases, kids may grind because the top and bottom teeth aren't aligned properly. Others do it as a response to pain, such as an earache or teething. Kids might grind their teeth as a way to ease the pain, just as they might rub a sore muscle. Most kids outgrow these fairly common causes for grinding.

Stress — usually nervous tension or anger — is another cause. For instance, your child may be worrying about a test at school or experiencing a change in routine (a new sibling or a new teacher). Even arguing with parents and siblings can cause enough stress to prompt teeth grinding or jaw clenching. Most kids outgrow bruxism, but a combination of parental observation and dental visits can help keep the problem in check until they do.

In cases where the grinding and clenching make a child's face and jaw sore or damage the teeth, dentists may prescribe a special night guard. Molded to a child's teeth, the night guard is similar to the protective mouthpieces worn by football players. Though a mouthpiece may take some getting used to, positive results happen quickly.

Some kids who are hyperactive also experience bruxism.

Y is kojivit cream and Glyco 6 cream used? how should one use it?

Asked by Ramya in Personal Health at   10:17 PM on April 29, 2008

DesiGuru's Answer

Kojic acid (Kojivit gel) is a more recent remedy for the treatment of pigment problems and age spots. Discovered in 1989, kojic acid has a similar effect as hydroquinone. Kojic acid is derived from a fungus, and studies have shown that it is effective as a lightening agent, inhibiting production of melanin (brown pigment).Compositions based on glyco-alcohol, hydro-alcohol or glyco-hydro-alcohol solutions of a glycol (Glyco 6 cream)preferably in association with the ethyl ester of retinoic acid and with hydroquinone, have been found to be particularly effective, as such or in cream form, in eliminating unsightly skin disorders such as acne, wrinkles, scars, stretch marks, dark spots, etc., and in treating mycotic skin diseases and psoriasis.

Asked by sumita in Personal Health at   5:24 PM on April 29, 2008

DesiGuru's Answer

Loss of weight, especially if rapid, can cause amenorrhoea (absence of menstruation).Post pill amenorrhoea" is when stopping oral contraceptives does not lead to a resumption of a normal menstrual cycle. It usually settles spontaneously in around 3 months but if not it requires investigation. The condition is probably not a true entity but the cause of amenorrhoea started whilst taking the contraceptives that induced an artificial cycle until they were stopped. Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) accounts for as many as 30% of cases of amenorrhoea.Thyroid dysfunction and anemia can also cause diminished periods.

Asked by Amina in Personal Health at   1:23 PM on April 30, 2008

DesiGuru's Answer

If you are suffering from the pain of dysmenorrhea,(premenstrual pain) it is important that you seek treatment from your health care provider. Treatment will depend upon the type of dysmenorrhea that you are diagnosed with.

Primary Dysmenorrhea Treatment
Many women find relief from their menstrual cramping through the use of NSAIDs. NSAIDs like ibuprofen (Brufen 400), acetaminophen, and naproxen, are available over-the-counter and by prescription. Anti-prostaglandin medication(Meftal 250mg) also helps to relieve cramping. This medication works effectively in over 80% of dysmenorrhea sufferers.

Secondary Dysmenorrhea Treatment
Treatment for secondary dysmenorrhea depends upon the cause of the condition. Your health care provider will be able to recommend appropriate methods of treatment as soon as the cause of your dysmenorrhea has been found.

Another treatment I found successful is to give a medicine by the name of Premence. In several clinical studies, up to 74% of women claimed that Premence was better than all other treatments previously tried to help maintain monthly balance. Premence is a one-a-day supplement for every day of the month. It does not contain any drugs or hormones, and can be taken by all women, including those using the contraceptive pill.
Take it for 90 days.

Liposuction is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of fat deposits by suction and the subsequent modeling of the body. Each area of the body is treated independently. It removes the localized deposits of fat that are resistant to diets and physical exercise. If you try to keep fit and you eat healthy food and still you can't get rid of the fat of certain areas of your body, especially in the abdomen, hips, knees, ankles, arms and face, then liposuction may be the answer you are looking for. It models your body. If programmed correctly, the fat removed may be used to add volume to your buttocks. Dr Priti Kimothi Shukla

wht is zylocane, plz tell in details?

Asked by avinash in Sexual Health at   4:36 AM on April 19, 2008

DesiGuru's Answer

The word is Xylocaine. This medicine contains the local anaesthetic, lidocaine. Xylocaine is used for minor surgery and dentistry to block feeling in the part of the body affected (local anaesthesia), so that the patient does not experience pain. To treat premature ejaculation, on a short term basis, you can use a local anaesthetic agent which anaesthetizes (numbs) the penis. This will be very satisfying to your female companion but not yourself. So you may want to test this cautiously. Most doctors are comfortable prescribing lignocaine (xylocaine) or equivalent for this purpose
