azithromycin,is a penicillin derivative antibiotic.The generic name of the drug is Zithromax.It prevents bacteria from growing by interfering with their protein synthesis.It is active against many bacteria like-Staphylococcus aureus
Streptococcus agalactiae
Streptococcus pneumoniae
Streptococcus pyogenes
Haemophilus ducreyi
Haemophilus influenzae
Moraxella catarrhalis.Hence it is used extensively in the diseases caused by the above said Bacteria.
Neisseria gonorrhoeae
Chlamydia pneumoniae
Chlamydia trachomatis
Mycoplasma pneumoniae
