Hi! My son is in 11th and is interested to study in VMC for IIT coaching. Is there any pre coaching to crack VMC entrance or how to prepare for entrance?

Asked Anonymously in Exams, Education & References at   11:56 PM on January 31, 2009

Deep's Answer

Hi..
For entrance the best thing is to have the clear knowledge of CBSE Level till 10th knowledge..
there are no particular pre coachings available, normally people start with the coachings for IIT just as they start up with the 11th std studies, so that after the completion of 12th, they don't need to take any drop in their studies and they can directly appear for IIT-JEE to get themselves into IITs and NITs.

So, I would suggest, if he is thorough with the basic knowledge till 10th CBSE Level and preferably somewhat of 11th std, as he is already in 11th now, he can get admission in VMC easily..

Actually these tests are more of like Aptitude, just to see how good is the candidate in terms of basic knowledge and how well does he want to perform in his career..

Hope this helps.

How to prepare GS for cds exams which topics is important?

Asked by amit dixit in Exams, Education & References at   12:48 PM on January 22, 2009

Deep's Answer

Hi Amit..
Here is the answer to this question of yours..
An extensive study is required for preparing GS Prelims. Start your preparation with ncert books of 10th standard on various subjects like History, Geography, Polity, Science etc. and then go through other books recommended for G.S. It will be better to prepare G.S. Mains first and then for Prelims.

HOW DID ALEXANDERS (THE EMPORER)DIED?

Asked by VARA PRASAD in Exams, Education & References at   5:28 PM on January 23, 2009

Deep's Answer

Hi..
he death of Alexander the Great is still shrouded in mystery to this day. It seems hard to believe that a 33-year-old man could die of natural causes that spring up out of the blue, and consequently, modern historians have made many attempts to explain exactly what happened. According to Plutarch, the events leading up to his death are as follows:

Alexander proceeded to Babylon, even after receiving word of several bad omens, such as ravens fighting each other over the city wall with some falling dead right in front of him, a man with a deformed liver being sacrificed in the king's honor, and his best lion was kicked to death by an ass. The god Serapis told a man to put on the king's robes and sit upon the throne. These all served as warnings to Alexander about what may lie in store for him, but they did not deter him.

Once in Babylon, he drank heavily at several banquets. One such banquet was hosted by his friend, Medius. In the Armenian version of the story, Psuedo-Callisthenes wrote that this banquet was a conspiracy involving Iollas, Cassander, and others who were unhappy with Alexander. They gave him poisoned wine, and immediately after drinking it, Alexander felt as if he had "been hit in the liver with an arrow." When he tried to throw it back up, he was given a poisoned feather, which ensured that the poison would reach his blood stream. He proceeded to get very sick and his condition deteriorated until his death. Plutarch did not believe this version, saying the sudden pain Alexander felt after drinking was a detail "with which certain historians felt obliged to embellish the occasion, and thus invent a tragic and moving finale to a great action. Aristobulus tells us that he was seized with a raging fever, that when he became thirsty he drank wine which made him delirious."

We will probably never know the truth, even though new theories are still coming out. We do know that on the 7th of June, 323 BC, the Macedonians were allowed to file past their leader for the last time and finally, three days later, he succumbed to the illness. Thus, on June 10, 323 BC, Alexander the Great died at the age of 33.

Hope this helps.

I got 666 as composite score in dec mat...n i have also applied for feb mat...in case i get less score in feb mat..then my which score would be considerd?

Asked Anonymously in Exams, Education & References at   12:13 PM on January 24, 2009

Deep's Answer

Hi..
This depends on the Validity of the MAT Score..
Validity of the MAT score is for that particular session for most Management Institutes, but for AIMA-CME’s PGDM & PGDITM programmes, the score is valid for one year. For more detail, please visit www.aima-ind.org

So Mat is usually conducted 4 times in a year in February, May, September and December, now before the Feb exam that is tomorrow, 1st Feb, your Dec score is valid, but once that Feb exams occurs, your scores are no more taken into consideration and then you become outdated.. So if you are appearing for this Feb exam, automatically your new scores will be taken and you don't have any option for old scores..

The only place where you last 1 yr scores will work, that means where you can give your old scores is AIMA (All India Management Association)

Hope this helps.

Challenges faced by vernacular students in switching over to English medium education?

Asked by Prakruti Pat in Exams, Education & References at   10:15 AM on January 24, 2009

Deep's Answer

Hi Prakruti.
I think there are many things and many problems that these people face when it comes to switching over to English Medium.
Many a times it happens, that though the children are not from English Medium, however they are good in english and they manage easily when it comes to Switching over English medium, but this in reality is a rare case, and this hardly happens..

Whereas in most of the scenarios, people who switch to English medium face real hard time in terms of understanding and being able to answer / respond in English...

Other than that.. it is just like they have to start from the Nursery to start learning the words correctly and learn, how to pronounce them, it is even more difficult for them, because the actual students of Nursery / lower classes are like empty board, you can write on them in a fresh manner whatever you wish to, and they will actually pick it up very easily, whereas those who switch to English medium in their Teenage or in they youth life, it is not so easy for them as well to have a new start.. as it is no a easy thing to forget everything that you have learnt in past so many yrs and have a fresh start so easily.. IT TAKES TIME..

Hope this helps.
