Hi,depending on your requirement you can choose the laptop and its configuration.
1.If its for general or casual purpose just buy a 1GB RAM Compaq,Accer,Dell.
2.If you have to buy 1 for graphics,picture or gaming or rather buy once always buy 3GB RAM,P-4 Dual Core with Writer etc.Cos:-Dell,Sony Vaio,Accer,IBM,or even Compaq.
